Menard's, Home Depot, Lowe's?

This week-end, the three stores above were mentioned in a conversation and we ended up categorizing them a little.

Menard's compares to Wal*Mart. Cheap Prices for cheap products. Competitive prices for name brand products.

Home Depot compares to Target. Slightly higher quality at slightly higher prices.

Lowe's was thought to be just a little better than Home Depot in the quality of the products carried.

FWIW, none of the three were considered to be particularly more or less expensive on comparable products.

Any thoughts or comments?

Depends on what you are shopping for.

6 years ago I built a large patio and I got the patio blocks from Menard's because they were on sale and cost a good bit less than what anyone else was selling them for.

Way I looked at it concrete is concrete regardless where you buy it. They were the same size and thickness.

I bought some light bulbs at Menard's and they were junk so I think it depends on what you need as to what is a bargain.

I used to hate the Lowe's here, but ever since we got a Home Depot, they have stepped up their customer service. Now, I don't like the HD and the Lowe's is where I'd preferably go if given the choice.

why is it you have so much info on this :notme: :idea :hmmm:   :wow::inspector: :D

I live very, very close to the Talladega Super Speedway, so I see the redneck/inbred convention come through twice a year - not to mention all the hicks that live here on top of that.

We had a Lowe's and a Home Depot and the HD had by far the best service but they also had higher prices.
This summer HD closed and Lowe's is busier than every and it still sucks to shop their.

I bought my PC at Lowes for 79.00 dollars.

I got married once in Talladega.....wonder what her name was? :bubba

We have two HD's here locally but prefer Lowe's which is about 30 miles each way. Nicer peeps, nicer merchandice, clean, wide isles, just better overall. Have not heard of Menard's.

Spot on! :rofl

Seriously, I kid about Nascar and all, but they do bring a lot of money in here for at least two weekends out of the year.

And this year they didn't find any dead people at the campgrounds when all the RVs pulled out.

I shop Home Depot and Menards, Lowes is too far away. Depends on what I am looking for. Menards does have lesser quality products over all, I think. However if you stay with a brand name you should still be fine. I just picked up a mirror from my bathroom and bought if from Menards. However my new bi-fold doors I bought from Home Depot. Will be picking up a new Kohler toilet from whoever is cheaper or has the one I like. I stick with quality where it maters. This coming from a guy working in the construction industry for the past 13 years.
