Yes indeed.

A newspaper has been reprinting old front-pages, and there are lots of stories about how LE killed lots of those nasty bootleggers and rumrunners with zero regard for Due Process, and also about scores of people having their lives ruined/ended from drinking poisonous illicit hooch. Always grated on me when people who were alive back then said stuff like "eh, who cares.. they were just a bunch of scoff-laws and drunks".
 
I have a friend, ex-military and former leo tell me he maced a guy once that didn`t blink. Just said calmly, "I wish you hadn`t done that"....lol he said "me too" Needless to say the arrest required much more force.

We`re not really "in the boonies" but, but I`ve always had (serious, trained, and yeah...big) dogs. They aren`t just "intruder alarms", they`re also the first active line of defense; they`ll take a lot of killing. We love the dogs like we would children, but that`s the harsh fact of the matter.

The good news is that since the dogs are self-evident, they add to the "this is a Hard Target" message. Bad Guys have much Softer Targets to choose amongst.



I actually think your decision to *not* own a firearm is probably a wise one and that you quite possibly *are* safer without one.

It takes a lot of work to be proficient with them and too many people treat them like some sort of Magic Talisman, as if just having one around is beneficial, only to find that it doesn`t work that way when [it hits the fan]. If a gun`s not there, it can`t fall into the wrong hands, if you`re not relying on the gun, hopefully you`re relying on some other plan, one you can actually (successfully) implement.



But for your residence, get the "fire extinguisher"-type made to discourage bears, not the little ones like you can carry around in your purse. Get at least one extra one and *practice* with it, preferably under Adrenal Stress. EVERYTHING is hard to do when you`re in fear for your life, *EVERYTHING*.

But note, a whole lotta people have watched even high% Pepper Spray have zero functional effect on certain individuals. As always, it pays to have a Plan B.

Stun Guns for the home need to be ones that will work from a distance (e.g., Taser) rather from direct contact as you don`t want a Bad Guy getting that close.

Good info there!

Yeah I went to a gun range to learn to shoot and just about fell on the floor from the kickback. It was just a little hand gun but.........that was enough for me realize it takes some practice !:D

Dogs are great protection unless you have a Golden Retreiver or tiny dog ,but then again the small ones are the most fierce!

I have heard the same with stun guns,for some reason a small percentage of people are not affected by them . Drugs may play a part in that.

Some people just have a tolerance, and some like you said may have drugs in there system. That`s why I always shake my head when you hear of an incident where police had to discharge their firearm to eliminate the threat, and you`ll get people crying they should have just tased or maced them. They don`t understand that if that fails to work, your life is on the line. Do it right the first time and eliminate the threat and don`t risk your life just to be politically correct.

As for mass shootings and banning guns, I agree that banning AR-15`s will get us no where. People who are set on causing as much destruction as possible will do so by whatever means. You`ll never be able to 100% stop incidents like these. It`s a sad reality but true..
 
I cant speak for the police type tasers but I have been hit with the handheld stun guns with the metal prongs and they did not incapacitate me. Maybe if you used it on a specific pressure point... I am not a big guy but maybe getting shocked in my line of work has a factor in that. That being said, as Accumulator mentioned I wouldnt eant to get close enough to someone to try to use the handheld type on someone trying to harm me.
 
Was Obama having a party? The caption above says "Politicians from President Obama`s party". Why couldn`t they just say Democrats?

My late dachshund would`ve died before she would let anything happen to me... That sweet little girl wasn`t about to let anyone mess with her boy

I didn`t....They are NEVER going to be truthful and even more so, since we have so stupidly kept them up on how we watch them...

So how about whoever they are, wherever they are, if they are on any terrorist watchlist, we pick them up and throw them all the way back to the middle east where they came from??? And they cannot ever come back.....

I vote for that in a heartbeat..

If you have termites eating away at the foundation of your house, do you just talk nice to them, build places for them to worship(?), give them money and jobs, and try not to offend them???

As far as I am concerned, if you commit any crimes that are felonies or worse, you absolutely give up all your rights to anything but hard time and rehabilitation.

If you don`t want to cooperate, and try to realize the wrongs you did, try to make restitution, and really want to change your nature for the good, then its just hard time until you kick the bucket...

The children of one of my nieces were just in France and Spain... I am so glad that they got home safely, and I encouraged them to not think about going there again anytime soon...

I can speak to the tasers that police carry (gun that fires prongs), as I was certified to use them when I worked corrections (it`s how I paid my way through school). They will most definitely incapacitate you. I could fight through spray (capsicum and capsicum + tear), but the taser absolutely would shut you down. There are some instances where the police style tasers wouldn`t work (seen it once or twice in a video), but I never saw it in real life. You could always miss, but you can eject the cartridge and use it as a prod style taser as well. Worked like a charm the few times I used it.

The projectile tasers need about a 4+" distance between prongs and both prongs must be in contact w skin To work best.
