Thoughts and Prayers for the victims and Families in Orlando

I probably said it poorly but my point is simple. If the FBI can`t keep this guy off of the street after multiple face to face conversations, what type of background check does the President think will "tighten up" (I think those were his words) security on a gun purchase?

How many times are our hearts going to be broken this year ???

Of course none of us know what transpired between the FBI and this Devil all those times, but if their "religion"? teaches them it is OK to LIE to get rid of more Infidels, then I can only assume that thing lied as well as he could and the FBI was satisfied.. :(

I still think that if all those people reported him as being too nutty about wanting to kill people AND he is from the Middle East, then I don`t know how many RED FLAGS have to be flying before some one should have noticed and done something...

What has to be done is when you find them like this, just ship them back, put them on all the NO FLY, ENTRY, etc., Data Bases, and hopefully they are gone and no danger to innocent people here for who knows how long...

It has come down to us against them - there is no compromising, giving them jobs, money, etc.; you cannot reason with EVIL; they just want to kill everyone and if we are not going to do something first, then we have to ship their dang rag headed heads out or grant them their death-wish in a safe place..

Are there no LAWS that say when a person talks about Terrorism against this Country, that they get into trouble with the LAWS of this Country??

Then if this is true why do people get taken out of line if they say things like "Bombs", "Guns", etc, while waiting to catch a flight ???

Are we just applying appropriate caution to just flying and forgetting the rest of the population of innocent people on the ground ???

As long as Cowards are allowed to perform terrorist things, and no one slaps them on the side of the head and makes them cry, this will never end...

We as a nation need to become more close-knit again (like in the old days) and actually KNOW what is going on around us and not be so
self-absorbed.. PLEASE !!!!

Those people - the ones who are actually good people and don`t do this - they know who the bad guys are among them - why are we so clueless over here ???

It is sad but getting rid of guns is not going to solve it and locking up all <insert whatever group you want to blame> is not going to solve it either.

Hillary just placed blame on gun lobby, not the terrorists

Imagining that kind of a scene sounds like something out if the movies. Terrible event.

How chilling and so very sad. Thankfully the lunatic out in Santa Monica, CA was stopped before he could do harm.

I guess it`s too much to ask that the bodies of muslim terrorists involved in any incident like this this, be thoroughly desecrated & defiled afterwards. in the eyes of islam, no martyr celebration, no virgin rewards, just retaliation and payback.

Like all politicians and sales people, she plays to her base. The right likes red Kool-aid, the left like blue Kool-aid.

If you mix you get purple....Jim Jones drink.

I just can`t believe one shooter did so much. The numbers are staggering.

My prayers to all the families of the victims

besides the obvious damnation for the shooter and sympathy for anyone involved or related to someone involved.. I really feel bad for the Muslim Americans and Middle Eastern citizens here that ARE NOT intending on harming anyone.

It`s just going to get worse for them. And I fear that some day some crazy `american` might plot ill harm to that specific group unjustly. Then we have come full circle with this whole hate crime terrorism thing IMO.

Hell, just Saturday night wrapping up for the car show this Middle Eastern security guard saw me wrapping up a very long line of divider tape...he took it upon himself to start at the other end and met me in the middle, which I found quite considerate and thanked him for his help and offered him something to drink from my cooler as it was hot and he was in a black security guard outfit.

We chatted for a minute and something he mentioned in passing really stuck with me.... he said "thank you, sir...most people look at me and turn the other direction because of my appearance...I`m just a normal guy like you all except I don`t have a cool car."

just wanted to share that as it ended up permeating in my mind the following morning when I turned on the tv and saw what happened in Orlando

I can`t comprehend how someone would want to do something like this.

Crazy religious beliefs can be very strong motivators. IMO we all *NEED* to gain an understanding of things like this, including the motivations.

Yes indeed, by somebody who reacted appropriately, props to her brother. (Though I wouldn`t be so certain that the killer was after any additional victims.)

Whenever somebody wastes a few seconds thinking "what the...this can`t be happening!" the opportunity to respond effectively is lost. People at that shooting convinced themselves that the gunshots were "balloons popping".

He had mental issues, this is a clear cut case of guy going manic combined with the fixation of Isis, which led to this disaster. Once a bipolar individual goes to an extreme things like this are bound to happen. I knew someone who was manic and had a fixation on anime and Japanese culture, one thing led to another and he attacked someone with a samurai sword. Coincidence? I think not.

I`m honestly floored it hasn`t happened already

The Orland ``` club gunman`s father has well-known anti-American views and is an ideological supporter of the Afghan Taliban. A new message posted by the father on Facebook early Monday morning also makes it clear he could have passed anti-````sexual views onto his son.

Seddique Mir Mateen, father of Orlando gunman Omar Mateen, who died in a shootout with police after killing at least 49 people early Sunday morning, regularly attended Friday prayers at a Florida mosque with his son.

Details on suspected Orlando gunman Omar Mateen

In the video posted early Monday, Seddique Mateen says his son was well-educated and respectful to his parents, and that he was "not aware what motivated him to go into a ``` club and kill 50 people."

The elder Mateen says he was saddened by his son`s actions during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

He then adds: "God will punish those involved in ````sexuality," saying it`s, "not an issue that humans should deal with."

The statement, and previous videos by Seddique Mateen, lend some insight into the environment in which his U.S.-born son was raised.

Seddique Mateen hosts a program on a California-based satellite Afghan TV station, aimed at the Afghan diaspora in the in the U.S., called the "Durand Jirga Show."

A senior Afghan intelligence source tells CBS News correspondent Lara Logan that the show is watched by some in people in Afghanistan but the primary audience is ethnic Pashtun Afghans living in the U.S. and Europe.

The Taliban Islamic extremist movement is comprised almost entirely of Pashtuns, and Mateen`s show takes a decidedly Pashtun nationalistic, pro-Taliban slant; full of anti-U.S. rhetoric and inflammatory language aimed at non-Pashtuns and at Pakistan, the source told Logan.

The name of the show references the Durand line, the disputed border between Afghanistan and Pakistan that was established in the 19th century by Britain. It has long been at the heart of deep-seated mistrust between Afghans and Pakistanis.

Seddique Mateen once campaigned in the United States for current Afghan President Ashraf Ghani -- seen as a moderate leader -- who appeared on his program in 2014. But since then Seddique has turned against Ghani in both his broadcasts and numerous videos posted to a Facebook account.

In his Facebook videos, the alleged gunman`s father has often appeared wearing a military uniform and declaring himself the leader of a "transitional revolutionary government" of Afghanistan. He claims to have his own intelligence agency and close ties to the U.S. Congress -- assets he says he will use to subvert Pakistani influence and take control of Afghanistan.

After watching his videos -- none of which were recorded in English -- CBS News` Ahmad Mukhtar said it seemed possible that Seddique Mateen is delusional. "He thinks he runs a government in exile and will soon take the power in Kabul in a revolution," notes Mukhtar.

The younger Mateen, suspected of the killings in Orlando, was said by his ex-wife to have suffered from mental illness. She said she left him just months after they were married as he appeared to suffer from a mood disorder and would become violently abusive and controlling.

Speaking later Monday to the Associated Press Television News, Seddique Mateen stressed that he did not in any way support his son`s actions, say he "would have arrested him myself" had he known of plans to commit mass murder.

He told APTN it was a "painful" time for him as a father. He did not make any remarks regarding his or his son`s stance on ````sexuality.

ISIS has claimed responsibility for the attack in Orlando, lauding "brother Omar Mateen, one of the soldiers of the Caliphate in America," for the killings.

Thus far, however, there has been no indication that Mateen had any tangible connection to the terrorist group prior to the shooting spree.

Right, I agree completely. (Not sure that came across in my earlier post. Guess I was being (overly?) general...)

And note that it`s already against the law for mentally ill people to own firearms. I *am* a little curious as to how he got them, something *did* slip between the cracks there IMO unless he stole them.

From what I`ve read/heard, he worked for some security firm and passed FBI background checks far more in depth than any of the garbage liberals want to impose.
