Eh, "The Man" is a generic term for "oppressive authority" and doesn't necessarily mean anything racial is involved. The Man isn't always a caucasion. The Man isn't even always male.

When you say people, do you mean the students who walked out or people in general? Because if you are referring to the students, the article stated white and black students walked out. So I would think their willingness to support the cop stems from the students being tired of putting up with her crap. If you are talking about people in general, I dismiss knee jerk charges of racism as nothing more than projection.
