ZYMOL vs MOTHERS REFLECTIVE ??

I just bought some Mothers Reflective at Pep Boys and started waxing my '94 Diamante. The Reflective is hard to apply by hand and to remove.

I also had some Zymol from Pep Boys and decided to try that.

The Zymol goes on alot easier and comes off easier as well.

Which is the better of the two? Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks

Larry

Thats strange Mothers Reflection is supose to be very easy to use, Zymol is very oily somthimes it is hard to wipe off, Im refering to Zymol cleaner wax light blue bottle.

Question, did you take the time and clay the finish first? You may want to wash and clay then wash again then apply your wax. That's if you don't polish prior to waxing.

You can try polishing after your clay and wash to bring out the gloss and to help in the wax. Apply wax sparingly, not too heavy and let it set up if it tells you to, or wipe off as you wax depending on the wax.

Zymol, the specialty type are somewhat oily which aids in giving a glossy look. Good stuff, but never lasts too long. Try to get some S100 at a bike shop, now THATS a wax!

It's a matter of trial and error. Hell, it took may types of waxes and polishes to find the right mix for me.

I've seen very nice results from both S100 and Moose wax (clearkote) as well as others, so just try it, if you don't like it, no big deal, go try something else.

Vettecor - I've applied Reflections on a 90º+ day, in direct sunlight to a black car, and was able to remove it 6 hours later with the pressure of 2 fingers on a MF towel. It really is the easiest product to remove I've ever seen.

How was it applied? I've even tried applying it way too heavy, and while removal was more difficult, it was still easier than most product (although it did take more passes for complete removal.

Can you give me some more info:

vehicle color

temperature, time of day indoor/outdoor, etc

applicator type

removal method and towel type

approx amount of product used (how much is left in the bottle?)

Anything additional info would help as well.

Thanks.

Also, what prep work was performed on the Diamante? With a 9 year old paint job, you should expect swirls and contamination. The cleaners in Mother's Reflections are gentler than Zymol CW's.

The color of the car is pearl white. Temperature 85 degrees. Car in the shade, finish not hot to the touch.

Used regular circular wax applicator and applied by hand. Used a nickel size amount on applicator about 3-4 times to wax hood only.

Removed wax with 100% clean cotton towel.

Hope this helps.

Could the Reflections wax be bad, although just bought today at store?

Thanks

Larry

Larry - you did the hood only, and used a nickel sized amount each time (3-4 times), correct?

At the moment, I can't think of any obvious mistakes. If you're not happy with the product, return it back to the store for a refund.

If you get a chance, there's a small number in black ink on the back label - post it or PM me and I'll check our control sample Monday. It should be 6 characters long, with the second being the letter "A".
