Zymol Products for my cars

Hi,



I have been reading about waxes for the last week and my head is beginning to spin:nixweiss



After much reading, I think my cars (2002 Camry Titanium Metallic Silver) and 2001 Buick Century (Beige) will need a polish to improve the shine and then a wax to keep the shine.



Since I don't have the time to devote a weekend for this or the money to get it down professionally. I think I will go to the local stores here in Toronto and pick up some wax.



I have decided to use Zymol for my cars. I figure I will purchase some polish and some wax.



Both the cars have very good paint. I basically want to get them to shine and to last for a long time.



Do I need to buy the polish or is the wax sufficient. I know that this is not something pro's like yourself do, but I just want to get the cars to look shiny and have them protected from the elements. I will probably put about 2 coats on the car for the year. Will this give me decent protection. Which Zymol products should I buy and where in Toronto are they available?



Also, I was told that GM and Toyota have polish/wax available. Should I use theirs or Zymol.

I personally wouldn't use Zymol on your two cars. Its a high quality wax but it isn't for you or really most other Autopians. Why? First, their $50 wax is no better than a $15 can of Blitz. It's just the packaging. Second, its mediocre durability and limited protection makes its not-so-good for daily drivers.



If I owned a classic that never faces the real world (except for the judges at shows) I would use it. But for my cars, something more durable and practical is necessary.



Instead of using a traditional wax like Zymol, I would suggest a polymer sealant such as Klasse or Zaino. These sealants are much more durable... try doing a search on it.



Your two cars seem reasonably new, so there is no need to use an abrasive polish. Just try a clay bar, ABC system, or a gentle paint cleanser.

I agree 100% with BW. If durability is a concern then Zymol is certianly not the product for you. There is a standing joke about their products, "buy the time you are finishing applying it it's already worn off".:eek:
