Zymol Carbon-Do I really need HD Cleanse

I have Zymol Carbon and HD cleanse. Zymol always says you need to initially use HD Cleanse in order for Zymol waxes to stick to the paint. They make it seem that if you use a different way to clean your cars paint (such as a clay bar and another company's wash) that the Zymol wax will not work as well. I love their wax but I hate to be stuck using only their expensive products. Is this just marketing? Anyone else just use their wax with other company's products meaning detailers, washes, etc.

Thanks

hd cleanse is not required, its just a paint cleanser with some oils to add some shine to the paint

A couple of points....

Giving a good clay should be good

It seems like your suggesting that this is an alternative to HD cleanse....it isnt and claying wont prep the cars finish for new product alone.

I have HD Cleanse and used various other prep products under Carbon, Japon and Destiny over years. I had dismissed HD Cleanse as nothing more then just there own prep product with the sales slant to make you but it.

However i share the feelings that a fair few other Zymol users do on DW which is that Zymol waxes last longer over HD Cleanse.

I think a couple of reasons; Zymol waxes are very oily, some oils in other prep products may lead to less stable sitting of the wax on prep product (remeber waxes do not bond).

Back in the day i was always a big user of Meguiars and Mothers 1st step of there 3 step program, the paintwork cleaner. I dont think they have any major oils in them, and i always used them first before Zaino and never had issues. However, many people have commented that obsorbtion of oils in the pores of the paintwork from the Zymol wax may be uneven which can result in quicker break down the of wax. Where as HD Cleanse should give a fair clean and fair application of glazing oils, what is not required dusts and is then buffed off.

Likewise, Zymol waxes tend to have significantly less durability when applied over a sealant, esp. when there left in the sun/hot enviroments. I think there somewhat easier then other waxes (mainly natural oils not solvents to keep them soft) for sealants to resist, so they just heat up and melt off.

Thats just my thoughts over the years, but if you dont mind reapplying more often then its probably not a problem! No doubt a bit controversal but above are my readings and findings for my stance.

I have HD cleanse, but haven't used it. I normally use P21S GEPC for all my carnauba based waxes.

Lusso oro's Revitalizing Creme will work as well. I imagine any good paint cleaner will work too.
