zaino ??

I am pretty new to detailing so I wanted to get as much advice as possible before I start buying stuff and cleaning my car. Anyway, i've been reading up a lot on Zaino and I wanted to ask the experienced members here what they think about it ?? I've talked with a few people and they all say it's a very good product, so I planned on buying their whole kit to take care of my car. So, my question is, disregarding the price (if zaino is more expenisve than something else that's just as good), is it a good idea to purchase all the zaino products and start there with the washing, waxing, etc... of my car ?? Everyone who's had experience please respond because i know that like every other product, this will get negative and positive feedback and i wish to hear everyone's results, good and bad. thanks guys

You will get mixed reviews here. Some guys like to keep it strictly Zaino from Wash to final polish, but some prefer different washes/quick detailers/tire dressings, etc. One thing I think most everyone agrees on is opting for microfiber towels instead of the 100% cotton bath towels the Zaino site suggests. With Zaino, people have gotten great reflectivity and a very wet look, but what seems to be the weak point is depth (from what I hear). Overall, the actual polishes are what will give you the Zaino look. You don't necessarily have to use every single Zaino product. Their car wash is quite strong but good, the leather conditioner smells like real leather, and some people like their tire dressing. I'm assuming you don't have too much experience with products. Time will tell what you prefer after you try several different products from different brands. My suggestion to you: If you don't have any other detailing products (or don't have products you want to use), go ahead and buy the kit. Trust me, you'll catch the detailing bug soon enough to be making online purchases very frequently ;) .

Hope this helps, and welcome to Autopia! :wavey

:welcome IMHO, you are way ahead buying the Zaino system as a kit. Using Zaino as a system, applied in accordance with instructions, you will achieve very satisfying results, right out of the gate. Just remember that prep = quality of result ! Zaino or any product over inadequate prep will make you work many times harder to get that shine ! Personally I am amazed with the "synergistic" qualities of the Zaino product line.(all the products in the Zaino line compliment or help increase, or maintain the detail at each step) In terms of all around outcome, Zaino IMHO, is without a doubt, the best. There are products available that are comparable in one or two categories, ie- ease of application, gloss etc- but all around , Zaino has it all.

:xyxthumbs Agree.

Excellent result is from 90% prep work 10% products.

If you have swirl marks, use polish like Optimum to treat the surface before any sealant or wax.

another question i had was regarding the PC. i've read a lot about it on this site and others and it seems everyone loves it. i didn't read anywhere that it's used with zaino. i basically want to find out if anyone has used the PC with zaino and with what product do you use it with ??

Since Zaino is designed to be applied in very thin layers with a hand applicator, I don't think using a PC will allow you to achieve optimum results. Zaino is not really geared toward paint correction, rather enhancing the look of paint. You should use a polish that is more aggressive (Poorboy's SSR 2.5, Meguiar's DACP, Menzerna Intensive Polish/Final Polish II) than Zaino to get rid of imperfections and properly prep the finish for Zaino.

By coincidence, I called Zaino today to check with them since I have some of their products and they are about three years old. I was checking to see if they were still good. I asked about the use of microfiber towels vs. the cotton towels. I was told that they still don't like microfiber and will continue to recommend cotton.

Over the years I've used many different otc brands. Once I got my new truck (indigo blue) I went with Zaino. 1st time app was wash with Dawn then clay then with the old system z1 then z5,z2 with z6 between layers an top with z6. And it looked as if the paint was dripping it gave it the WOW factor big time and all applied by hand. Zaino held up very well here in the crazy ohio weather we have. After a few off roading excurisions, scratches and all that fun stuff and after winter I'm getting ready to Zaino it again but only after I remove some of the scratches an swirls using some 3m products but it will be topped with the Z line up. Also I will be using a pc this time around.

I use the PC w/Menzerna to clear the swirls ect. prior to appling Zaino by hand. IMO it is less cumbersom applied by hand.

Other than Menzerna I'm a total Zaino guy. Durability means more to me in MI than shine. Although w/Z I'm not sacrificing shine for durability. Its the best of both worlds IMO. 25yrs+ of "waxing" cars and its the best I have used.

I actually get really thin consistent layers when I apply Zaino by PC with a finishing pad.
Same here. I typically don't apply any sealant or wax by hand anymore; I've found (in my experience, anyway) that machine application yields thinner layers, easier removal, and I typically use less product when I'm using the PC to apply than I do when applying by hand.

My nickel's worth,
