Zaino Z8 vs. Mother's FX Spraywax

I've used FX (wax and spray)on a Charcoal Metallic Nissan Maxima with good luck, but it seems to not like lighter metallics. My finacee's Molten Silver Metallic Nissan Sentra had no flake until I put Collinite on it 2 weeks ago. The flake is back now. FX is great stuff, and I got good durability (4-5 months), but I've read on here and from personal experience that it tends to mute flakes on lighter colors. I think Collinite is my new favorite on silver, but I haven't tried Zaino yet.

The regular waxes are more durable than spray waxes. Also I find FX regular wax shinier than the spray wax. More shine, but more flake muting.

If you have flake in your paint, regardless of colour, then Reflections hands down. Its still super glossy, but you get great depth and clarity of the flake. Layer Reflections Top Coat onto it and you take it up one notch. :bigups

If you want to stick to spray waxes, then what I said above still applies. Reflections on any flake. With this spray wax its best to spray it onto your applicator rather than the paint...rather like the method recommended for Megs spray wax. Personally, its just as easy to use the Reflections regular wax over the spray wax. Don't get me wrong; the spray wax looks amazing, but if your going to spray anything onto an applicator why not use the real thing. Reflections regular wax is so easy to apply, its almost funny. :D

Hey Rolla, your Inbox is full, so this is for you (sorry for hijacking this thread :o )

Regular Reflections does contain cleaners. If you want one without cleaners then Reflections Top Coat is your baby - its a hybrid synthetic/carnauba blend that looks sweet. :bigups

From Mothers site:

"Mothers® Reflections® Top Coat is designed as the quintessential high-gloss final step. Top Coat has no cleaners and is clearcoat safe — so it can be used on top of any car wax, sealant or glaze — and is ideal for use after Reflections® Car Wax. The combination of natural waxes and synthetic polymers gives paint additional gloss, depth and superior protection."

Sorry just cleaned inbox, and sorry for the hijack and thank you for the info!

I guess back on topic, yes I guess Z8 and FX are different. I would use FX if I had no flake in my car. If you do have flake, use relfections spray (which requires hazing and then wiping).

But since you are putting the effort of applying reflections on an applicator and then car, just use the reflections wax. But relfections wax(not spray wax), has cleaners. SO you can use Reflections Top Coat as your LSP instead without removing your LSP.

Whew haha.

I can't easily get Top Coat (locally). Could I use Collinite IW 845 as a substituent to Top Coat over Reflections? I'm more concerned with durability.

So, is FX SprayWax really a wax? It's very liquidy and doesn't have the consistency of any wax I've used...even compared to OCW.

And I think reflections spray wax is useless. Takes as much time applying as the regular wax.

Its a synthetic wax, or sealant.

Its true, it takes a similar amount of time to apply, but I wouldn't call it useless. It can be used as a stand alone wax and it has its own *look* that gives the paint a certain *glow*.

It would be great if they develop it to be a 'spray and wipe' product, though.

I use FX as a spray and wipe and as a wax as you dry. Looks pretty good on black, but doesn't beat Duragloss Aquawax.

Hmm...something better always come up. I'll have to try Duragloss. I only got FX because it was buy 1 get 1 free at PepBoys.
