Zaino Z-PC and Plastic Mirror Casings

Yesterday I did a Sebring convertible with Bret's help and we had some really rough whitish grey rear view mirror casings. Bret suggested I polish them and I got the PC out and using a Wolfgang yello pad (Lake Country mfd I think) went to town with Z-Pc my favorite all around polish.

It's a bit tricky to control a PC but I find that keeping the pad centered properly or otherwise grounded works well. I also like to angle into the rear view mirror attachment point to polish that so it is a nice consistent look.

Suffice it to say that Z-PC works very well indeed as a mirror casing polish. :bigthumb:

This is not the best picture but the gloss on the rear view mirrors is terrific. It was a night and day difference:

I have, worked wonders on them. I just make sure not to apply any pressure as I would assume the paint is pretty thin?

SilverLexus, you didn't answer Wannafbody's question, which I will elaborate on--are you saying you polished the mirror housing itself, or the triangular-shaped molding that covers the attachment of the mirror to the door, and was this area painted black like the car, or bare plastic, and if so, was it textured or smooth?

Smooth plastic. Similar to polishing light lens. I have the same mirrors on my Chrysler. Z-PC works wonders with this material by PC. One of the few places I use the PC en lieu of the rotary for polishing. I use the PC on all my vehicle's mirror casings. Painted or not.

Find a secure position for the mirror (folded in or not) and let the machine's weight and polish do its thing.:2thumbs:

Fair enough. We're all looking for something that's going to easily restore textured black plastic (AND NO, I DON'T WANT TO TURN THIS INTO A DRESSING DISCUSSION), which is I think why the question was asked.

Setec,

I polished the mirror casing and the attached triangular piece. I think it was painted but not exactly sure. They are gloss black plastic.
