Zaino vs. NXT?

I enjoy using different products and was reading about Meguiars new NXT wax. Was wondering how it compares to "Z" as far as gloss, depth of shine, ability to hide swirls, etc....

Thanks.

I still haven't been able to get my hands on NXT, but hopefully this week it will show up somewhere around here.

I have been using Zaino for several years now, so I am very familar with it and it characteristics.

As soon as I test the NXT, I will write up my comparison on it.

I'm comparing them both right now on my truck.

Kinda hard to make a fair comparison when both products are freshly applied. Just about any wax or polish will look good when new. The real test IMO is how the looks hold up over time. So I'll reserve my comments until I can see how they both perform over the next few weeks.

C'mon Bret....you aren't just going to say how fantastic something is without living with it for a while? :D

In all seriousness, I will be interested in your long term impressions.

I have a related question. Can NXT be applied over a Z'ed vehicle or will the NXT remove the Zaino? (Does NXT contain any chemical or abrasive cleaners)

My personal opinion? Yes, it works like it does contain cleaners.

Ok, I applied one coat of NXT on half my hood and one coat of Z2 on the other half of my hood today.

NXT - SLIGHTLY deep color on my red; not quite as slick as Z2 but very close; MUCH more white residue when buffing off (may have applied too much)

Zaino - SLIGHTLY more reflective/clear; never any residue; seems to cause a little bit of static (remedied by Z6 spray)

I will give it a good look over again tomorrow to see if the NXT changes at all.

Give that NXT a few hours or a day and it'll be slicker than the Z.

And to me, it certainly smells like it has some cleaning properties. Not the most scientific test, but hey...all I had with me was my nose to do the study.

I'm assuming the the NXT does in fact fill swirls much much better than Z5?? Also, how has the NXT held up durability wise for everyone?

My NXT did only slightly better than Z5 at filling swirls, but it's still too early for durability.

For me, durability should take about 5+ months to tell anything.

I had 3 coats of Zaino last for 9 months.

I have a friend who is a Zaino Fanatic. He tried NXT and was definitely unimpressed. But I'm kind of surprised that he actually thought it looked BAD. Most people who prefer one or the other think both look good but one looks better.

i have been a zaino user!, read the hype about nxt..had my 1st chance to use it today....much easier going on and off than zaino...does appear to fill in tiny scratches...as for looks.. man..every time i wax or polish its always shiny...i guess zaino might be a tad clearer looking? but zaino is a multi step thing with not easy use...the whole thing went to hell at very end...was gettin all my stuff together when i noticed a tiny spot left...so i grab a mf...and musta been a tiny spec on it :( and put a 6 inch cresent in it...DAMNIT..I SHOULDA LOOKED AT MF!...anyway it didnt penatrate..i'll take it out tomarrow..oh man i was and still pissed at myself:angry :angry overall looks great i took pics but my garage was kinda dark

I wouldn't take the opinion of a Zaino fanatic as fact lol, they can be somewhat biased. Zaino users fine, but "fanatics" IMO never give anything but what they're fanatical about a fair shot.

Its definately a different kind of shine than Zaino, its deeper and not as "plasticky" but it doesn't look like carnuaba. Kinda weird, good weird but weird.

Seems slicker than Zaino to me, about 3/4 as reflective and twice as deep.

Like bret and others have said though time will tell, mine is 3 weeks now and looks as good as the day after I applied it. My guess is you're not going to get Zaino durability out of it though.

As for filling check out my response in the "How well does NXT fill?" thread in the Product Discussion section.

Yeah, I know. Personally I've thought a lot about the disagreements over which final product to use, and I've decided to think that whatever anyone uses and is happy with is fine with me. I don't want to change anyone's mind. I'm happy with my choices, and my contentment has nothing at all to do with convincing someone else that I'm right. My contentment is in the apperance of my vehicle.
