Zaino vs. Klasse durability test

I have a few conclusions from this:

3) Zaino Z2 did not benefit from layering, at least in the way I did it and in terms of initial look and feel.

4) Klasse HGSG did.

5) From my point of view, Z2 seems like the obvious winner in this test. It looked better (at least with a single coat), lasted longer, and is easier to use. It costs more, but niether is going to break the bank. If you consider Z2 costs $15, can easily do 15 cars and last several months, towels and car wash probably cost more.

I hope this is useful to those of you looking for the ultimate in durability, as I was.

I just did a back to back ZAIO/Z2 vs KAIO/KSG. My goal was ultimate, in your face, obnoxious shine. I wanted something that people would notice as not being a normal clean car. I polished the car with UNO and 105 (was testing those), then finished out with 205 and PO85RD. Then put tape down the middle of the car. Some thoughts:

-ZAIO vs KAIO, lookswise and ease of application, Zaino wins hands down. KAIO also has zero depth. ZAIO actually looks pretty nice on its own.

-I totally agree with #2. After my first coat of KSG, I almost abandoned it, the first coat clouded the paint and looked terrible compared to Z2. Z2 never got any better after muliple coats

-KSG really needs cure time to pop.

-KSG did keep getting better to about layer 3 or 4. It doesn't seem to have quite as much depth as Z2, but it has quite a bit more shine.

-Both actually muted the shine of my paint after a long session with PO85RD.

-The first layer of KSG is a bit hard to remove, but not much more so than Z2. After the first layer, KSG was easier to apply and remove, it melts into the paint and swipes of quite easily. I probably used less than an ounce of each in six coats.

If I wanted quick results, I'd reach for Z2, however the bit of extra gloss was worth the extra work. The car is garaged, so I won't be giving it a good durability shake down. Anyway, sorry for bringing up a long dead thread, but I didn't want to start a new one comparing the two.

yakky- I found some interesting tidbits in your post, so no worries about resurrecting an old thread :D But then it seems like I find all sorts of (sometimes surprising!) stuff in your KSG experiments!

Given that "muting" after PO85RD I can't help but think that the whole burnishing thing really can be pointless. I somehow suspect that the Z2 would've been really sharp looking if you had *NOT* used the ZAIO. Interesting that the KAIO messed it up too.

Interesting that you found the KSG offered more shine than the Z2!

Heh heh, I should *hope* you used less than an ounce of KSG per coat, I used far less than that for my minivan, and that included all the jambs!

Lol. I meant an ounce for the six coats!

It's taken me a little while to get it right, but I have found that Z-CS fits in well here. I have done this a few times now with different family vehicles. I use ZAIO followed by a couple of coats of Z5 with ZFX. Let it cure well. Often I wait a week to make sure. Wash, Z8, Z2. Let cure overnight. Then I use ZCS which I let cure another 12 - 24 hours. As good as it looked before the ZCS, it looks much better after ! Much more shine and depth. A final wipedown with Z8 and it's incredible. Just my experience. It's taken me quite awhile to warm up to ZCS but I really like it now. It helps that I now have a garage to work in, which has allowed me to slow down a bit and not have as many environmental issues. I actually get quite a bit of glow in addition to hard shine. It's tempting to get some 'nuba and use as a topper and see how much more glow I can get. Too much fun !!

I think I really need to try Opti Seal eventually !! Sounds like it will pop even more than ZCS from what I've read here. Problem is this one bottle of ZCS will probably last me a long time.
