Zaino vs Jeff's Werkstatt

This is not a "which one is better" question. Well, maybe kinda sorta...

I tried Jeff's Werkstatt Acrylic Jett on my Monaco (very dark) Blue BMW 335 a while back. I had a hell of a time with streaking, and finally gave up. It does work great on my wifes, not as dark blue, car though! I've pretty much always been a nuba person, but have used the Klasse twins with pretty good success. I've wanted to give Zaino a try for a while, but have been put off by the multi-steps. I'm thinking about going for it and ordering some and trying it, but I'm affraid I'll have the same streaking problem I had with the Acrylic Jett. For those who have used both, how do they compare as far as streaking and application? I'd hate to spend the money and then not really get any use out of it.

Thanks for any insight!

The only JW product I used was the QW. It's a pretty good product and I did not get any streaking issues using it.

If you wanna dry the Zaino product, I'd get either Z-2p (for light colors), or Z-5p (for dark). I've never experienced any streaks using either of them. Give it a shot, I'm sure you'll like it :)

Zaino doesn't have to be as complicated as people make it out to be. The main thing to consider is that there is no cleaning ability whatsoever in the Z2 or Z5. You can either clean the paint really well with something else (I have been polishing and then wiping down with alcohol) or you can use thier AIO. I have also used Klasse AIO in the past and had good luck. If you want to try it out, just use your existing KAIO and follow it with Z5. That's it. You don't need anything else. All the rest is optional for people trying to eek out a bit more.

Bill, do not let all the Zaino numbers freak you out. As stated above, once your paint is prepped all you need is to apply some Z-5. It goes on and off VERY easy and smells like grapes. Please trust me on this. In fact, you will find Zaino so easy to use that you might even wish there was more that you had to do with it. It will be the best 17 bucks you ever spent and it will do your BMW like 20 times. Think about this for a minute. Zaino gets quite the hype on this and other forums and there's a reason for it. Imagine all these good reviews for only seventeen bucks. You cannot go wrong. If you decide to give it a try pick up a bottle of Z-6 & Z-8 as well. Both of these products are simple sprays. The Z-6 cleans up water spots left behind from washing very nicely and Z-8 follows with a really nice gloss.

I think I'm going to go all out (sort of) and order the Zaino Triplets Kit (Z-AIO, Z-CS, Z-8 & 314), and add Z5. Does that sound right?

I had good luck with AJ too, just not on my car...the important one :)

good way to start, z5/zcs/z8 combo works really well.

IME with AJ, you need to use very very little, just like how klasse SG works.

You can also try AJ-T, it's much easier to work with :)

I have limited experience with Zaino (ZAIO and ZCS are the only two I have) but I'm extremely pleased with JW. Prime is a great AIO and AJT looks amazing and is super easy to apply. I've gotten 4 months out of AJT with it still going strong before I decided to apply more. It's so easy to do (WOWO) that you could re-apply every other week if you wanted to.

When applying AJ, you need to lightly work it in so there are no high spots and apply and remove it a couple sections at a time. I get absolutely no streaks or problems removing it when used like that.

With Zaino, all you really need is ZAIO and either Z5 or Z2. Don't worry about layering all in one session and using ZFX, just apply another layer the next couple times you wash your car. Saves time on the first application and doesn't add that much to your next two washes. Z8 is a good product too, once you have as many layers of Z2/5 you want, maintain with Z8 after every couple of washes. Zaino doesn't have to be complicated and it doesn't have to be expensive.

Bill, I'm with Scott on this one. I bought Clear Seal and sold it on the trading post not long after. Save your money on the CS and buy a ten dollar bottle of Z-6 for it is an excellent cleaner spray. It removes water spots and other deposits that love to show up on dark colored paint. Then top it off with Z-8. Here's my suggested approach:

ZAIO: Prep

Z-5: Sealant

Z-6: Cleaner Spray

Z-8: Gloss & Slickness Spray.

Don't waste your money with ZFX either. Like Scott said, if you want another layer just add it after 24 hrs or so. Personally, I never felt that more layers were necessary. I can guarantee you this, you are going to love this product line. Write back with your results.

Hello

I too say that you dont need to bother ZFX. I have been there and done that and now just build up a Zaino Z5 coat after each wash for a few weeks.

If you are wanting to try Zaino for the first time I'd suggest getting ZAIO and Z8 as a minimum.

The triplets with CS is a bit better deal.

I have pretty limited experience with both products, but I'll offer my $0.02...

IMO Zaino is the winner here. I haven't gotten fantastic beading or slickness retention out of both products (maybe I am just used to my 845IW), but Zaino is less finiky to use, slicker, and IMO better looking.

I use both products. The only thing I'll add is, IME, AJ noticeably darkens the paint's color, while Zaino retains the paint's natural hue.

Thanks for all the advice! I'm going to place my order tonight. I'll let you guys know how it works out. It'll be interesting to see how this compares to the nuba's I've been using forever...

One last question, can you apply another coat of Z5 after you've used the Z8?

Any Zaino product can layer over top of another Z product.

I'll also add.... If you use Z-AIO on top of your existing Z-5p/Z-8.. Z-AIO will remove the other Z polishes since it's a cleaner. If you have Z-AIO available... use it as a base coat for the Z-2/Z-5p.
