Zaino Steps

One more note on waterspots... I've had a lot of black cars... so I've had my share of waterspots...

After I wash my car, I dry it, then drive around the block, then dry the water drippings, then QD with Z6 or Z8...

It took me about 3 black cars to figure this out! :dance

Zaino has a cult following. I would argue all day that the prep and process are first and foremost to ANY product. Zaino is good at selling alot of products and steps.

I have had friends try to convince me to try it, but after choosing another line of 1 chemical for sealant w/ no additives to mix and no need for mega multiple coats (and better results), I have dragged them from Zaino to another product.

Good luck and I hope you get the results you are chasing. Just remeber expensive products will not enable you to cut corners like polishing the "Swirlies" out. Zaino make a product that hides swirls but if that is what you are after long term, I think its safe to say your in the worong place.

The guy on this board can better help you pick a polish system and corrisponding pads to remove the defects in the clear coat and then you can choose your LSP to protect the paint.

Good luck.

101% preparation. -1% product.

But you cant fault Z5pro and Z16 on properly prepared surfaces. I have thousands of dollars of carnauba waxes. In our area they are useless in the spring to me. Total pollen magnets. Z5pro is the lesser of the two evils for NY and my solid black paint.

Leaf blower can work well for this purpose, too.

As far as water spots, hell, my wife's Escape is silver, and she has water spots. My mother's Explorer is a medium blue, and the water spots on it's hood are etched into the paint so bad, I couldn't get them out with my PC. Hell, after two attempts with my PC, one with Meg M01 and once with M02, you can still feel the spots - absolute acid rain etching.

Bell040, I think your method is fine. After all, we learn by doing.

Agreed 100%. And carnauba doesn't last long for me in Detroit, too.

I know that the black car will eventually get swirlies and waterspots if it is not properly protected......

But, can I use Zaino from day 1 and prevent from ever having to use the PC?

Or will it already have waterspots and swirlies when I pick it up?

I used Zaino on this car the day I bought it from the dealership. I was a Zaino-Fanatic and layered it at least 1-2 times per month (for the fun of it!).

I sold the car 5 years later and it had VERY few swirls. In fact, even to the trained eye, they were hard to find.

I sold the car to my son in 2006 and, even though he's FAR from a detailer, it still looks good. It could stand a light polishing, but I guess all those layers of Zaino did some good.:heelclick

Impressive, Luster. Impressive indeed. Even though I'm a Ford man, I always liked those Pontiac's, especially in black or red, but especially in black.

As far as water spots... I always kept the car immaculate. If it ever got any water spots on it, I always used One Grand Special Touch. It is a non-abrasive paint cleaner, specializing in water spot removal.

I bought the bottle in 2001 and I have used about 1/3 of it to date.

Wish my parents did on their Explorer (grumble, grumble).

Oh, hell yea. Been up since before 6 AM. Fed the dog, walked him an hour (and it's f***ing cold in Detroit this morning, like 8 degrees), and had two mugs of coffee and working on a third (wife is b*tching that I'm a "coffee hog" - hey, get up earlier, woman!). And I'm actually running slow this AM - LOL!!!

Wow, a lot of steps and products. What great marketing for Zanio.

Most of these products are bought buy a very few people. We're all hooked. If it's not Zaino, it's Klasse, Wolfgang, Menzerna, or Collinite.
