Zaino reflectivity....about to use Klasse

Hello Autopia.

Newbie here...... though I've been visiting this forum (or its reincarnation) off and on the past year or so. Now, I've been zaino-ing my car for six months and I'm wondering about the reflectivity or an excess of it on zaino-ed cars. Various members here have mentioned that zaino tends to a plastic looking finish. Not that I'm complaining ...... but my Klasse combo and Blitz wax (as well as the 3M IHG, meguiar's, etc.) have been sitting unused the last six months and I'd like to use them when I strip off the zaino this spring. I used Klasse on my previous ride and recently on my brother's C240 and I'm looking forward to using it again.

Is this the infamous reflectivity (and less depth) with zaino?

The shine is great. I don't think it looks plastic. I would never strip that off if I were you. :)

BTW, nice car! Love the color. :up

If you have Klasse sitting around give it a shot. Do a mental analysis on how smooth the Zaino was on the car. Remember also how easy it was to rebirth that Zaino shine with just using Z7 and Z6. Remember how easy is was to apply Z.

Also if you car has no depth to it with Zaino something is wrong. I realize that an internet picture can tell lies but the car looks pretty good! This will be a great experiment for you to share with us because you will have recent and fresh knowledge of the use of both systems. With this information you can do a great comparison of the protection, durability, ease/difficulty of application and maintence. But as William420 said if the car looks as good as the picture I would leave well enough.

Good luck with the switch! :D

P.S. If the Zaino looks like plastic it is just appearing for it is. Clearcoats and polymer sealants are plastics in the general chemical sense. Waxes are grease-like chemically. Polymer sealants are plastic-like.

I agree that if you have the Klasse on hand give it a try and see which one is better in YOUR eyes. You can always go back or stay with the one that looks the best to YOU.

and great looking car also.....

I use both and have come to prefer Z. You'll never really know until you try for yourself. I do not think you will be disappointed with Klasse ( I still love this stuff too), but the things I look for the most: Z leads the pack.

Well how do I say this politely. First your car looks great but you're finnicky aren't you? c'mon admit you can't keep your hands off of your car and the other products are just burnin' a hole in your shelf. Your dreaming about detailing aren't you, Colblue? Now there, it's ok you can be your own neat freaky self here and you're amongst your brethren. You're going to like it here. If you go the Klasse route be sure to use the button there's loads of info on the product. Feel free asking questions too, your amongst friends. :xyxthumbs

Oh man, the shine on that IS300 makes me want to put Zaino on my IS300. Seems like all IS300 owners use Zaino or nothing at all, except me and william420! woohoo. Well.. maybe not, need that PC...

Mad props for the compliments guys.

I'm still on the fence about stripping off the Zaino although I want to try Klasse again just to see how it looks on my car. Then once and for all, I may be able to stick to just one system and see for myself what each system's strong/weak points are on this particular car.

BTW, for those who are looking for a comparison pic, albeit on a different car.........

Look what Klasse/blitz did to my previous car ;)

Something tells me you better stick with Zaino. :D Don't push your luck again. What the heck happen? Looks like the Klasse stood up again the collision , to bad the fender and bumper didn't.

I started my detailing hobby with Klasse and liked it. Application was easy, but SG has its quirks in removal. Shine was great, but I did have the mysterious Klasse haze :( It was best with a Souveran or Blitz topper.

I have since moved to Zaino on the same car. The application and removal is the easiest of any product (barring maybe Souveran) that I have used. The shine is excellent. There is a slight difference in depth, but I personally don't think it is very perceptible or worth experiencing the other problems that I had with Klasse.

Just one last comment.... My Mustang that has Blackfire is holding up well after the fourth wash with Z7. Slickness is somewhat diminished, but the shine is holding up very well. I am considering throwing on a coat or two of Souveran or Blitz though just to see how that mix works. But when that wears off, and having given Klasse, Blackfire and Carnauba extensive personal testing, I am seriously considering moving all my cars to Zaino. My reasoning behind this rests mostly on the ease of use, good experience with Z5 hiding minor swirls, longevity, and excellent shine (close to the best...Blackfire). The other Z products are also among the best in their classes.

I have watched the debate regarding these products rage on for the last year. I don't think that debate will ever end, but hopefully this info will give some insight to the individual characteristics of each produt that I have encountered personally. I would still encourage doing your own testing since your results, opinions and such may differ from mine.... And please post your results and pics!!

[/b]</blockquote>That looks so cool!

Anyway, just go for it with the Klasse. I'm starting to see what people mean with Zaino being sterile...i'm going to throw some Blitz over half the hood and a front fender in a couple of weeks and see how I like that look.

Well, I originally went with the Klasse AIO, Klasse SG, with a combination of Pinnacle Souveran and Blitz Wax. The only complaint I had was when removing the Klasse SG, it was a pain in the rear. However, after the fruits of my labor it was all worth while. I had been putting a coat of wax on the car every 2-3 weeks. In between I had been using the EF Clear Pearl for quick details. Well just like you, instead of having Klasse for months I had the Zaino system and was dying to try it out after so many rave reviews here on Autopia. Hence, my little detail project this past weekend. I stripped off the Klasse and wax with 3M SMR and washed my car with Dawn. Then applied Z1 and Z2.

As far as reflectivity, I got to give it to Zaino. For deep shine, I would have to give to the Klasse + Pinnacle Souveran/Blitz wax combo. For ease of application, it goes to Zaino.

To me, both are winners its just depends on what you are looking for.

bigboyhf,

Since you BlackFire is holding nicely while using a different wash I wonder if the BF wash is what was causing the problems with BlackFire? I think Geeky mentioned that in his testing BF wash has a high Ph level. :nixweiss

I would definitely think that the BF wash is a bit too harsh. The Z7 has been working much better on the BF....

Interesting. I wonder if results would vary if you went to an even milder wash. I'll be using BF on a car sometime within the next couple months...

I've used up 1 bottle of BF wash out of 2 bottles I have, then decided to try Z7 wash since I wasn't happy with the loss of shine over severl washes. By the way, it seems that the more coats of BF I put on, the less on loss on shine. Anyway, I definitely agree with you that Z7 helps on the shine part and I'm somehwhat happy with BF as long as I use Z7 wash, but it still doesn't seem to help on the slickness.

Speaking of Klasse, I tried it last weekend but didn't have time to complete it (only managed to do AIO X 1 & SG X 1 on HALF of my mom's car). I'm pretty happy with the result. I can't help but comparing it with Zaino, and it doesn't seem as reflective but has a kind of smoothness to it that I don't think I see on Z (hard to describe that shine). Notice several things, AIO is no replacement for clay (well, I think everyone knows that), and SG is more "watery" than Z, hence it's so much easier to spread it thin. I know I used even less amount per coat than Z (Less than 1/2 oz). If you are very experienced getting very thin coats on Z, it should be even easier with SG. I didn't finish yet, so I'll post some pics up when I'm done in about 2-3 weeks. Also, did anyone notice that Sonus Acrylic QD smells very similar to BF QD?

I know some people are switching from Klasse to BF, but if Klasse holds up well for me, I'll be doing the opposite and strip all my BF cars to Klasse. :D
