i've just noticed recently that using z1 (polish lock) alone is actually more reflective and slicker than when used in combination with z2 (polish). has anyone else reached this conclusion? also i do find that z6 (spray) is really great on polished aluminum wheels!
I don't think there is any real protective qualities in Z1. It's supposed to act as a bonding agent for Z2 and Z5 so I'm not sure I'd trust it to protect my paint. Interesting observation, though.
So you put the Z1 on, let it dry and wiped it off? Was this on purpose? I would never know because the Z2 or Z5 goes over the Z1 before it dries, then it all gets wiped off after it dries.
Z1 is ajust an alcohol based prep/cleaner to ready the paint for for the Z polishes. If it makes your car brighter and slicker it may be that your paint need a little more cleaning..
actually, i've tried it both ways. the paint was always very clean having claybarred etc. i just noticed that all the slickness and shine seemed to come from the polish lock whereas the polish hardly seems to really do anything to further the shine or the slickness. just one mans opinion however
Im surprised you got Z1 off the car with no streaking being that you didn't use z2 or z5. Z1 offers limited cleaning. It was designed to strengthen the Z2/Z5 bond with your paint over using Z2 / Z5 alone.
I'll do some experimenting and get back to ya.......
