Zaino Beside Klasse Twins.

Alright, I never started out as a test, but it evolved.

Yesterday I did the hood of my wife's SUV with Klasse Twins.

Tonight I was looking at my Mercedes Sprinter Van. It's Silver. I wanted to Zaino it, but I never felt like doing a multistep process on such a

large vehicle.

I thought bugger it. Let's see how good this stuff is with mis treatment. I will deliberately do everything against what I should. Within reason.

So I gave the truck a two minute wash. No claying. No other prep other than a quick wash with Super strong and soapy Dish washing liquid, to

strip everything off it. Wasn't much on it. Hadn't touched it in over 7 months.

So then I grabbed my 5 year old bottle of Z2 Pro. (Pink One) Shook it twice. Took a FOAM sponge disc, and put a twenty cent piece size squirt

in the middle and started wiping it on. Staright from the bottle.

No mixing and no ZFX. At first I was a little careful, then to hell with it. I just started squirting it onto the piece of foam and rubbing fast.

I coated the entire front end in about two minutes. I tried to make it fairly thin, but I did not fuss with it.

I looked up at the sky and it Grew DARK.......Not exagerating......No it wasn't the wraith of Sol, it was dusk, the sun had gone down.

So I turned on the lights. I took out a MF and wiped off the Z2. All I can say is WOW.

No prep, no care, no fuss, It made that silver reflect like it has never before. Now before everyone jumps in, I am not one of these Zaino, handed down from God guys.

But I can see why there are so many. This stuff is pretty good.

Now I forgot about my wifes SUV but it was parked beside it.

I looked at the hood I only did yesterday with many steps, see other thread. Then I looked at my truck, and smiled and shook my head and grinned.

I had to run inside and post about it. Now I won't say too much else, other than, I am now a Zaino guy. There I said. it.

I have been converted. Its good stuff. I won't be drinking it. But I think I will be allowing most everything I have to run out and the only replacements

that will be coming in shall have the Z on it. LOL

Dam, am I really one of THOZE guyZ now??? (Hope you got a laugh from THIZ.)

Well, IMO KSG and Zaino both have pretty distinctive "signature looks", so it's not all that surprising that you'd prefer one over the other. And IMO KSG, much as I like it, isn't really a beauty-LSP. I disliked it so much on Audi silver that I stripped it off and redid the car with something else, and I hardly *ever* do that (maybe twice in my life).

Winters are very mild here in Dallas, Texas (especially when compared to my friends in the northern states and in Canada), but it does get just cold enough to where I will refuse to touch my wife's minivan. Honestly, I hate detailing that thing because it is such as eyesore - a classic example of 0% form, 100% function. Anyways, I also use Zaino Z2 Pro on this silver vehicle as the look is really damn nice and the durability is top-notch.

Depending on how you view "layering", I always put a total of 3 layers. Z1+Z2 on the first week, another layer of Z2 is applied the second and third weeks. Applied in October and comes off in April/May when I begrudgingly start the Spring refresh.

In the past, I used the Klasse twins during the winter for my wife's various SUVs. I had no issues with Klasse durability...just Zaino looked a little better. I primarily use Klasse on my parent's car(s) now.

Accumulator - Is Audi silver of the metallic variety? When it comes to LSP "look" preference, I know there is no right or wrong - but I also don't like KSG on every silver. It's strange that I like it on non-metallic, darker-hued silvers such as steel grey or gunmetal colors. But in the case of lighter-hued silvers (arctic/brilliant/etc), I much prefer Meg's 21/16, Platinum UPP, Natty's, or even Souveran.

Hi Accumulator, I did my Steel Grey (Dark Gun metal Grey) ///M5 with the Klasse Twins and Topped with PS. It looked fantastic. To date the best detailing job I have ever done. However I am starting to think that it was the PS that made it look so special, and that the Klasse Twins had little to do with the outcome. I used to PS all the time. Whilst I have you here, I plan on doing my next brand new vehicle with Zaino and I am contemplating topping it with PS. Now I am sure it will look fantastic, but my concern is, if I get tired of constantly topping with PS, and I decide that I just want Zaino, will I have to strip everything back and start all over again?

What will Z8 do to PS? Could I do a QD with Z8 one time and then do a PS the next week? Or once I start with the PS does that stop me from using the QD? I love the Z8. I hate the Z6. Regards MJ.

Hi MCA, I hear you loud and clear. Its so boring rubbing huge flat panels. I love to rub the curves of something much sportier. The SUV puts me to sleep.

I did my charcoal metalic grey S4 last year with 1/2 Z2 and 1/2 KSG. At one layer each, KSG was decimated by Z2. By layer 3 of each, KSG was catching up, but never quite did, I think I got up to six layers. In respect to looks, Z2 is hard, if not impossible to beat on metallic paint.

Cool Dan, It may influence what colour car I buy. I love white. But silver and the metallic greys are more fun to polish.

I haven't seen Zaino on a pure white car. I don't really like metalic white. They haven't quite pulled that look off. The idea is there.

I think you and I see this the same way.

Yeah, the Audi silver is "very metallic" to my eyes, pretty light/bright. It's funny, I didn't mind KSG on my silver Mazda, kinda liked it in fact, but on that Audi (and it wasn't one of my "special" Audis that I was nutty-particular about either) it just looked terrible to me for some reason.

On any other paint/color I'd just have to try it and see. The KSG always looks "dipped in plastic" to me, but that's OK on some paints.

Funny you mentioned UPP, #16, and Souveran among your faves on lighter silvers; I have UPP on my S8 and love how it looks; Souveran is my wife's fave on that paint but I got tired of redoing her car all the time so I switched it to #16 and while she doesn't like it as well she thinks it's OK (she's disliked a few other LSPs on it).

Mirror- IMO once you start topping things, let alone with Souveran, it's hard to say what "ingredient" is making you happy/not. And on some of those colors a synthetic-w/Souveran topper combo just gives a particular look; I'm crazy about how SRP topped with Souveran looks on my Jag's weird Rhodium Metallic single stage lacquer, it's that exact combo that just does it for me on that car, nothing else is quite the same.

And yeah, IME at some point you have to strip off the "dead" Souveran. I find that after a while it leaves "dead wax artifacts" that start to mess with how it looks. Not all waxes do that in a big way, but Souveran seems to do it for me.

No idea what the Z8'll do, never used it.

And FWIW, pure/nonmetallic-nonpearl white is one of the few colors I can sometimes really like Zaino on.
