Zaino and ZFX

Does ZFX improve durability or appearance, or is ZFX simply an additive to allow applying up to three coats in a 24 hour period? Is their any advantage, other than reduced cost, to not use ZFX?

Thanks!

~One manâ€â„¢s opinion / observations~

Q1: Does ZFX improve durability or appearance, or is ZFX simply an additive to allow applying up to three coats in a 24 hour period?

A1: Does ZFX improve durability or appearance. No

The polymers do not require a lengthy cross-link (cure) time as ZFX is formulated to accelerate the time requirements allowing up to three applications of Z2/Z5 in a 24-hour period.

Q2: Is their any advantage, other than reduced cost, to not use ZFX?

A2: If you donâ€â„¢t use ZFX you will need to use Z1 Polish Lock, I donâ€â„¢t know what the price difference is between them (you need to use one or the other of these products)

~Hope this helps~

In the long run, Polish Lok is cheaper. I bought a bottle over 3 years ago and still have 75% left. I bought some Z2 and Z5 to replenish my deminishing stock and I have noticed that the Z2 and Z5 dries a lot faster than when I originally bought it. I know Sal says you need to wait at least 24 hours between coats without ZFX. I usually wait 4 to 6 hours and apply another coat (only if it has not been raining). I have yet to have any problems. Zaino is a really good product and durable.

Z1 - Much much more economical.

ZFX - Ability to layer up to 3 coats in a day.

As for durability, I haven't seen a difference between the two but then again, I haven't gone 6 months without applying another layer of protection. When I do (mother's vehicle), I minimally apply 3 layers with ZFX so I personally don't know if Z1 / ZFX effect's durability. I would suspect it doesn't.

Also, using Z1 minimizes the amount of Z2 of Z5 you waste. If I plan for 3 coats using ZFX and end up only doing 2, I end up having to discard 1/4 of ounce of product that has been mixed. For me, it's not a big deal, but for some I guess it could be.

How recently did you purchase your Z2 and Z5. You stated you noticed a difference in drying time.

TIA

Technically there should be no difference in the durability or appearance using either Z1 or ZFX if finish is well prepped.

From my understanding, the ZFX is only accelerates the curing time ... shouldn't improve durability as the base formulation is exactly the same.

As for look, some have said Z1 looks better, other ZFX. Personally, having applied a tonne of coats. I personally don't think there is a difference and it probably has more to do with lighting conditions on a certain day etc. Whether you are in a happy mood on day x or feeling tired on day y.
