Zaino and Liquid Glass

First, I used Zaino and am am happy with the product. An employee of mine has a new vehicle and was told by her husband that Liquid Glass is the only product to use. He takes his truck to a carwash and never puts anything on it, anyway.



I am looking for some comparisios between the two mentioned products, i.e, depth of shine, durability, real vs plastic look, etc. Any replies are appreciated.



She will be using a single product about every six months. I know that is not what would be considered "normal" for this forum, but that is the way it will be with here.
 
I've been more pleased with the look of liquid glass than with Zaino. A little less plasticy, though neither do a great job in terms of looks IMHO. If I had to choose, though, I usually reach for the liquid glass (use it on my exhaust tips, etc. etc.) Durability wise I've found them both to be about equal, with no significant edge. This is all, of course, in my own experience.

I too have a lot of experience with both. Prior to using Zaino I was a happy Finish First user (almost identical to LG) and had used LG as well as recommended it to others. I've also tested them side by side and have been involved in testing them pretty extensively.



Liquid Glass is what I call an "OG" sealant. Its been around for many many years (since the early 70's at least) with little change or improvement. An aminofunctional siloxane, high in solvents, with mild abrasiveness. It was a good product when auto paint was much thicker and harder than it is now, and technology wasn't where it is now. I can totally understand someone's affection towards it if they've been using it for many years. It's an oldie but I won't call it a goodie. Used on a 1970's - 1980's era paint job, its OK. But its certainly not on the same level as Zaino.



Zaino is far more sophisticated and advanced. Its durability is far better than LG's. I used to get 6-8 weeks of protection from FF/LG; 6 months of protection from Zaino is more the norm. Zaino is far safer for your paint, especially newer, softer paint that is much thinner than ever before and not as tolerant of solventy products.



Looks are totally subjective. After one initial coat both will look pretty similar. How they look after several weeks and months of exposure is what counts. For someone who wants to use a product every 6 months, I think worrying about looks is trivial. After 6 months looks won't matter because the LG will have been wasted long before that.



If its long term protection you want, there's no comparison. I know of no other product as durable yet as reflective and slick as Zaino. Add the fact that Zaino has no abrasives and virtually no solvents, the choice becomes clear.
 
My brother used to love Liquid Glass and it looked pretty good on his white Challenger. Of course, this was back in the early to mid 80's when LG was a premium product. These days, my brother uses S100 on his truck. As much as he liked LG, he didn't like the smell and S100 is a lot easier to use.
