Zaino AIO (ZAIO) application - whats the best method from your experience?

I got a sample of ZAIO from the kid across the street who ordered pretty much all of Zaino's line to get started on detailing. Tomorrow I have a dealer quickie and I want to try ZAIO. Do you recommend applying with the UDM or rotary? Any benefit to applying with the rotary? More correction ability? Which ever you choose what pad do you recommend?

I will be sealing the vehicle with Opti-Seal as my ZCS is not here yet.

Im off to the Alice In Chains and Velvet Revolver concert so I wont be back until around 11pm.

Thanks in advance....

I have used ZAIO by rotary before and its faster then a PC. I have used a white LC pad with the PC and a green or blue wave 7" pad with my metabo. Use very little, 3-4 small pea sized dots for a PC pad, maybe a little more for a larger pad on the rotary. Work it in till it about disappears, I do this to the entire car then remove.

I've used it via PC and UDM using a polishing pad. Like Bryan says, just a few pea sized dots are enough per panel. Spread it around on 4-5 then crank it up to 6 for a couple quick passes and it clears out nicely. I apply it to the whole car and then remove.

Yeah I use my PC at speed 5 or 6.

From reading and getting advice here, I apply small dots on a white LC pad and spread. Very easy to use.

What a great site/forum with such wonderful people/participants. Maybe one day I will step it up to a PC or UDM. But anyway, I tried and used Zanio CS (& Z-6) on my wife’s new CR-V and loved it.

I went for more, Zanio AIO on my 2001 Chey Tahoe. Easy to apply by hand but was scared when I applied with an (Okay you can start laughing now) $20 6 Ryobi Orbital Buffer. The AIO seemed to dry/disappear almost instantaneously. The polish/cleaner almost looked dry with the little fish hooks, like some people talk about. So I applied by hand.

Now with the questions, will I do harm to my paint finish if I polish with my $20 dollar Orbital Buffer and Turtle wax bonnet while the AIO disappears and looks dry? I think I am going to order some foam pads and modify my cheap buffer to accept said pads. I also have a 30 year old 8 B&D Orbital Buffer with much more power but I don’t like the 1/8 cushion and feel it’s too big. I know I should get a PC or UDM but maybe next year, I am going to keep an eye out for a used one.

I am going to order some Z-2 Pro (Step-Up the Gloss for CR-V, hopefully) and Z-5 Pro (Tahoe Spider Webs)

1. Correct way to apply Z-AIO with $20 buffer or modify for 6.5 Pad

2. Can I use buffer to apply Z-2 and Z-5 or is product similar to CS, just apply with Cotton Applicators.

PS Wish I had a garage, I hate using Z-CS because even a small breeze, I use way too much product, LOL. Heading out for a mini vacation.

Happy Labor Day, and don’t work to hard.

Mike,

Spray (1/4 misted spritz) CS directly to the applicator when working outside. Spread as usual. Works great.

If your cotton bonnets are soft and the platform well-padded you should be okay. Worn stiff bonnets will marr the surface.

You can also spritz the cotton bonnet with a little Z6 to increase the working time of the ZAIO.

But be careful with the holograms !!

Today I polished a 2005 C6 yellow vette. As usual I had to throw the book at it.

Black wool/strada 1000/1800 metabo

green wool/P1500/ 1600 metabo

I did a few test areas before I pulled the car out to check for holograms.

SIP/white ccs/1500 metabo

106ff/white ccs/1500 metabo

106ff/green edge 2k 7" wave pad/1500 metabo

ZAIO/blue edge 2k 7" wave/ metabo 1500

I was happy to find that they all finished hologram free, yes even the ZAIO on a blue pad cleaned up the slight holograms from the green wool pad.

Lest week on our BMW I could not finish down hologram free with the larger green edge pad and 106ff. I ended up using the PC and ZPC on a white pad.

How on earth is Alice in Chains touring without Layne Staley?

You gotta hear there new front man William. He is amazing, sounds almost identical to Layne. Plus Jerry did a lot of AIC songs as well so it was not much of a stretch. I just hope that they are not pulling an AIC and having too many voice overs.

Thanks for the input. I'll give it a try. :waxing:
