z6 quick detailer and how often do you wash

I have a black trans am. You guys know the deal, drive it and it gets dusty. I usually just qd the car after using the cal.duster after the car cools down. I think I have developed a few scratches this way though and I think it happens when I use the z6. Should I not be using it after driving the car and just wait to wash the car and maybe just use the cal. duster? Also, how often do you guys wash your car? I do not drive it everyday so I usually just dust it with the cal. duster and then z6 it, is this ok. btw, I am using zaino

In theory what you are doing is just fine. That's what I do. But in practice, there are lot's of opportunities for mistakes and problems. Technique and quality of products is important.

Be sure that the finish is not "too" dirty.

Be sure the finish is lubricated enough with the QD when wiping a dusty finish.

Be sure your MF towels are "quality" MF towels.

That being said, every time you touch your car you increase the chances for swirles and scratches. So if you are going to QD frequently you HAVE to be extra cautious.

Do they sell Z6 in large bottle? Talking about 32 or 64oz? Maybe even a gallon? Anyone talk to Sal on this before? I bought the Z6 but that thing goes so fast. Thanks.

I think that a lot of people are using too much Z6 when QD'ing, which is why a lot of people like to dillute the Z6 with distilled water (1:1 ratio). I've tried dilluting it myself, and have had good luck.

However, my favorite method for using Z6 is to take my softest MF towel, lay it flat and give it 3-4 full shots of Z6. I can then QD the entire Tahoe with that MF. Sometimes, I'll give an extra shot or two about half-way through, but a little (like the rest of the Zaino product suite) goes a LONG way.

Just a suggestion.

I will have to try diluting my Z6 as you have suggested and see how it works out. Thanks for the suggestion.

I will have to try the dilution idea too. I've tried using it just to "spot clean" some spots and it tends to go on rather thick (imo). Also, the sprayer hardly seems to "mist"--maybe i have a faulty sprayer but one squirt seems to put on an awful lot of product that seems to take a long time to spread out. It seems a diluted Z7 in a spray bottle would be better for spot cleaning as it should clean and come right off. Any opinions?

Has anyone put on layers of zaino without using the z6 in between? How were the results? I was planning on putting some z2/zfx on this weekend but opted not too because I was worried that I would goof up with z6. (I'm new to waxing, detailing, etc)

IMO you should not use the diluted version between coats of Z2-Z5.eboller I have tried Z2 without Z6 but I think the Z6 does make a difference if nothing else it assures that you have removed everything completely before the next coat.

I use the Z6 the same way that Todd does. 50/50 w/ distilled water after a wash or after CCD. Then I use it full strength between coats of Z2/5.
