Z5 Over Z2-Pro <vs> More Z2-Pro ???

Dave N

My PC goes to 7...
I put on 2 layers of Z2-Pro a month or two ago, and have used Z8 once or twice since then. My paint is still super-slick, but I was wondering how a layer of Z5 would look over the Z2-Pro. My truck is dark metallic grey, so I was thinking that the Z5 might deepen it a little. Or should I just put more Z2-Pro on?

Dave: For what it's worth, I've found the Z5 makes for a good base for the Z2 Pro on my black truck. When I first started using Zaino my truck looked great with 3 coats of Z5 on it. However, when I applied 3 coats of Z2 Pro the next day the Pro deepend the color & produced a wetter look. As for topping the Z2 Pro with Z5...........check it out & see what happens. It might look great!

I've even started using Z5 as a base for Souveran,Butter Wet Wax & DP Max Wax. ( I can here the Zealots fainting!!) The Z5/BWW combo is killer. 3 coats of Z5 w/Z6 in between layers, top the final layer with Z8, then the BWW. I QD it with a 50/50 mixture of Carnauba Spritz & Crytsal Mist.

I didn't want to hijack this thread......sorry......but I did want to share a little info with ya!

I tend to use the Z5 as a "base coat" of Zaino and then top with Z2 Pro/Z8. The Z5 is nice but it doesn't produce the depth or shine of the Z2-Pro.

Can't hurt to try it out on your car. My car is red so YMMV. :hm

If you don't like it you can always top with Z2 Pro. ;)

Both products are interchangable so give it a try, you may like what you see.

Z5 has some filling ablities, therefore if your finish is getting a bit marred or webbed the Z5 may fit the bill if your not ready or you really dont need a full detail. And like the others said if your not happy with Z5 being your final coat, just finish it off with a coat of Z2.

That's kind of what I was thinking too -- I should have used the Z5 first. But it was my first time using Z2-Pro and I only had one day to do the sealant so the Z2p won out. Oh well, maybe I'll put a layer of Z5 on this weekend and see what happens.

This fall I'll strip it all with Z-PC and then try the Z5 first.

IMO Z5 gets the finish just about perfect and Z 2 pro adds the final gloss and protection , then Z8 ( nothing better )

:xyxthumbs When you want to refresh your detail, Z5 works just fine to hide micro-scratches. After applying the Z5. then go over that with Z2Pro and Z8. Z5 works great for maintenance purposes on a Zaino detail. :D
