Z-CS and Z-AIO vs. Heavy Salt

We've had a stretch of bad weather in the NE. Last week it was snow and salt trucks Sunday-Thursday. Each day it would snow about 1/8" -just enough for the salt crew to hose down to roads, and clear up the next day. Friday temps were in the low 40's so I HAD to break out the wash gear!

I currently have Z-AIO and CS sitting on my STS paint. Heavy salt sat on my paint for 5 days and I thought it would really degrade things, but after a wash I was pleasantly surprised.

Process Uses:

Z7 Wash / Foam Gun (Pre-rinsed twice)

P21S on the wheels

TOL Wheel cleaner (3:1) on the wheels/wells/exhaust

Z6 QD while drying off

Z16 on the wells/tires

Total Time Invested: Less than 90 minutes.

Saturday afternoon was sunny (but cold). The pics were taken in 29 degree weather. I hate you guys in the South!!!!

I've been very impressed with CS durability over the winter months. My paint looked like hell with heavy salt/splatter, but after a wash it looks freshly detailed and the paint feels very slick, even after a full week of salt. (Yes, the Z6 helped rejouvenate things a bit, but CS is holding strong).

John,nice car.

CS appears to be holding up real nice..the caddy looks like you spent all day on it..

Very impressive! The car looks super, my Audi A4 has been wearing ZFX'd Z2 Pro over the winter and it constantly impresses me, a QD with Z6 or Z8 and the car is sparkling!

I am really keen to get my hands on these products and hope the UK distributor can get them soon.

One question I have on the new products is around use of Z2 Pro with ZFX. Is it possible to apply 3 x ZFX'd Z2 Pro over an initial base of Z-AIO?

The reason for not being sure is that I thought perhaps ZFX'd Z2 Pro would have to go on as the first layer in order to properly bond to the paint. I am hoping it will work as Klasse AIO and SG do, i.e. the AIO product creates an ideal base for the sealant.

Neil,

Yes. That's a perfect protocol. Cleanse and lay down a base with ZAIO and follow with Z2,Z5 or CS. You can actually just apply a single coat of Z2 or Z5 without ZFX. Since you are applying 3 coats ZFX :woohoo:

John, the Caddy looks great. You'll be surprised how well CS protects and endures.:hifive:

Looks like it was just freshly waxed. Very nice! When was the last time you detailed this car with the ZAIO and Z-CS?

Thank You :)

Z-AIO and Z-CS were applied to the STS in late Dec/early Jan. Since that time, my paint has been exposed to harsh conditions (namely road salt), which tend to break down products quickly. I don't feel the need to re-apply another coat of Z-CS at this time.

Looks great John! Props to you for getting outside in the cold.

No salt to contend with here in the south of course.

My lazy/whimpy butt just did a QEW wash on Sat and a quick QEW wipedown of the wheels. :o No Z6 pr Z8 after.

3x of ZFX'd Z5pro and an application of ZCS in early Nov. The car has been driven 200 miles since the QEW wash and this is what it looks like today.

That's after a QEW wash and 200 miles ?!? Wow!

The paint looks super wet:2thumbs:

If you want to check out the salted look I'll swap cars with you for a month :)

Thanks John!

That is correct, the pic is after a QEW wash and 200 miles. I am very happy with the way this combo is holding up.

As long as I get one of your excellent quick details after that would be fine. :2thumbs:

So if you wanted to completely avoid ZFX altogether, you could still layer Z2 one layer at a time allowing at least 24 hours for the previous layer to fully cure? How many layers/how many months until you would need to re-establish a base with ZAIO?
