Z/28 confirmed

It's important because it's probably going to be priced out of range of most people. The SS was always the fat cat performance marque along the Chevrolet line. Now, it will be the Z/28 - which goes against everything the RPO that it's named after stood for: affordable track performance for the everyman.

Is it important? No. (Well, to me it is) Is it disappointing? Absolutely.

They should be about $8,000+ over the SS.

So a badge is important because of price? :nixweiss

Is that a direct quote from Chevrolet? That the Z/28 RPO code stands for that?

I still don't see the big deal. The camaro could have never returned, but it has, and thats a reason to celebrate, not complain over stupid badging IMO.

A price point hasn't been set. All Chevrolet has said is that it will be priced competitively and below the Corvette (and not talking $995.95 under either). Still, even if it was at 8K more, thats not a bad price for a blower, special hood and other body mods, wheels, and suspension changes. Heck that would still put it under the GT500 :)

Which is going to be in the $40k range.

Too rich for my blood. Regardless of how special it is.

Well the top of the line car of that caliber isn't going to be for every man. Its still under Corvette and you can get a reasonable price on them too. Performance/Dollar it is a steal!

I remember the argument almost ten years ago on cz28.com. It was a big deal to some people then, and it still is today.

LOL that argument will never end. Every month someone brings it up on there or ls1tech haha, not to mention the 5th gen forums. Oh well. I'm just happy its back! :woot:

I hope they ditch that football sized rearview mirror on the windshield though. Its bad enough having small glass, but seeing around that thing is lame.

the pricing has to be under the vette, the camaro was always supposed to be " affordable " performance.

if we are talking prices including dealer mark ups then forget about it.

i built an SS for ****** and giggles a while ago, v8 with a 6 spd and polished wheels, = 30K.....

so it depends.....it will be less than a cts-v

Yeah, I built mine as the (I think ) 2SS and it was $32+.

I make what I consider to be a pretty decent salary all things considered, but that's a bit too much for something that won't hold my whole family.

Sigh...maybe when the kids go off to college.
