In the december 2009 issue of Motor Trend and z/28 will be slotted as a 2012 vehicle for release in late 2011.....

It will have the cts-v supercharged LSa motor, pushing 556 Hp and 551 tq

and as of right now will only be sold with a 6 speed !!!!

:2thumbs::woot:

Nice, but I'm guessing that motor is going to really push the price up into the range of several other more interesting cars.

I'm more interested in confirmation that GM will still be around in 2012.

I don't see why not as we now own 60% of it and I don't see any way that we will own less in the near future.

i will have to review the article for the exact wording BUT it is said that the car should be competitively priced AND FAR ENOUGH AWAY FROM THE CORVETTE.

so it should be 42-48K.... not including dealer markups. I priced an SS out before,

with minimal options = v8, 6 spd and polished wheels and it was 30,105

so the dealers are blowing the prices up really good right now..... so the Z/28 should be " affordable muscle compared to the vette, like it always was "

Meh, the price of the vette is going into insane territory now too, good thing resale drops a ton, but I'd hate to be the first owner.

there's alot of die hards out there that will purchase the car with the intensions of keeping it.

i would hate to buy one " pre-owned" that has been beaten on.... i would need to purchase it from a private party, older person.....

i'm trying to win the lotto. that way i can buy one in each color

I'm still waiting for the '09 CTS-V to come down in price...luxury and performance all in one! :D

If the Z28 really does come out I'll be surprised. With Fritz and Co it's been back and forth wether or not it will be produced. I think they should go for it to give some competition to the GT500

I wouldn't doubt it if the window price turns out around 55k. I always thought the z/28 was a base and the SS was the bigger horsepower option?

with the 4th gens the SS was the top model...when the Z/28 option came out in 69 it was the top model. the all out, straight up race car from the factory.

the 302 it came with was rated @ 290 hp, but race headers were included in the trunk and installed @ the dealers.... the actual hp of the motor was closer to 390 ( no not just with the headers ) the 290 rating was for ins. companies.

it was also a high revving motor, so it was alive all the way through the rpm band !

FWIW, Fritz just quit after only 8 months, @ the dealership by my house, camaros (v8 not v6) are starting to pile up, they have over 5 on a regular basis, sitting next to the 4-8 vets on the lot. The salesman can put me in a 09 Z06 for $50Kish, base model 09 vets for hi-to mids $30k's, camaros are selling for sticker, or $1500 off sticker, or should I say not selling but not much is in December. I think the z-28 will be overpriced and only sell to some hi end enthusiasts. I think the 5th gen camaro boom is over, IMHO. And I own a 4th gen fbody and I am historically a gm kinda guy and have owned gm muscle since I was 16 and I will be 50 soon. I would rather a vett than a camaro for the same money, YMMV

EDIT: 2nd gen maros w/split bumber DO rock, Hard too! :buffing:

GM announced it will be priced compettitively and well below Corvette.
