Your Product Arsenal

He listed a lot of quality stuff. Customers paying a premium price expect something beyond bulk level products. I do the same, plus I am constantly trying new stuff too. :)

Can you please elaborate on that statement?. Do you believe the “general public can determine the difference in product listed above, used on there car.

Scott works on very high end client cars, with very high end wants/needs. They ask for a certain looking LSP (depth instead of shine, shine instead of depth, you get the idea) and he has to be able to give it to them. When you start getting into clients like he has, if you don't provide what they want, they have the cash to go to someone else and have it done over again.

Moral of the story, get the products you need to do the job right and then some.

Meguair's, Poorboys, Optimum, Four Star, Klasse, 1z, P21s... the list goes on. I started making a list of everything I had one time, didn't quite finish, and am almost scared to :nervous:

I’m not sure I do. Maybe you can elaborate and help me because I’m product challenged!!!

I usually go either the Optimum route (OHC via rotary/cutting pad, OCP/light cut foam, OCP/polishing foam) or the Menzerna route (PG/wool on real bad cars, followed by IP/light cut followed by PO85RD/polishing) to polish, then either FK1 2810/Pink or RMG/Souveran or RMG/Blue Natty's to finish up. I'm looking to try Werkstatt products after seeing Scott's results with them .

Well, for me in my Automagic arsenal, I use Banana Wax for depth, Awsome Gloss for shine and a combo of the two if the customer wants to pay for it.

Agreed!

A lot of my customers like to hang out in the garage with me as I work and I will show them the products I am using, explain why I'm using them and why they are the best. I dont think I could say, "this is the Best wax out there" if I had only tried one or two. As for polishes, most customers dont know too much about them, so trying out different ones is really for my benefit.

Personally, I use the following LSPs to achieve the look I desire:

Four Star UPP- slick, shine, durability

Souveran- Black or red car depth and shine (charge a premium)

Nattys Blue - Darker car - wetness

P21s lighter colors- ussually just leave lighter colors with a sealant, but should the customer want p21s is the best wax for lighter colors imo

Zaino - for the hardcore zaino fan customer

EX-p - leftover (use in case Im out of 4star)

RMG - dark cars, use when customer desires (for a premium)

I kow I have a few more, but really those are the LSPs I use and to be honest, I use them all a good amount.

I am familiar with Autosmart. Only $3/Gallon? Here in Sweden we have to pay $5.50/Gallon. It´s crazy! What Autosmart products where you interested of?

Not all can see a huge difference between products as applied to their vehicle but they get a higher perceived value when they see me pull out an enthusiast level product vs a bulk brand in a plain bottle. I do have some who definitely notice when I use something new, I've received a lot of really nice comments about Werkstatt products and I have one customer who washes his own car and prefers I use Carnauba Moose instead of Collinite 845 because he says his wash mitt and towels glide over his paint better when I use Carnauba Moose.

You can tweak the final appearance about 10% based on the LSP you use. Carnaubas tend to have a warmer, more flowing liquid look and sealants tend to have a harder clear wet look.

I actually have a couple customers who specifically request I use Pinnacle Souveran on their cars. They both claim they can tell when I have used it.

In my arsenal is FK1, CLearKote, Meguiars, Menzerna, Werkstatt, Optimum, Eimann Fabrik, 3M. I'm very satisfied with each one of my products

"I never really started making money until I stopped looking for the 'perfect wax'."

. Joe, from Superior Shine

BTW, Joe uses Meguiar's almost exclusively...

I tend to agree with Joe, but I still have LOTS of stuff left over from my days of experimenting.

Thanks Scottwax!!!

We only use one brand also. Over the last several months I’ve leaned a lot about product but IMO the top brand’s are all about equal. A few have some negligible benefits in a professional application. We have territory reps with trailers that come by and try to sell us product all the time. The online stores kind of screwed up the business for them. It’s great to see the “Young enthusiasts buying so many different products. Without them stimulating the car care economy their would be less money for new product development.

I had a few car club guy’s want to talk “techno product but that was easily handled? It might “pay for you guy’s to consider product exclusiveness. When I say “pay I mean buying power and loyalty !!! Do you notice I don’t advertise my product supplier?

Ok, sorry if i ask such a retarded question but im just now starting a small detailing buisness out of the side of a body shop. So far ive tried different things and got some assorted products but i want to get a reccomendation of the polishing process that i can make sense of. So far what i have is

Eagle one Car wash

Meguires NXT wash

Meguires polish

Meguires Gold Class Wax

Meguires Cleaner Wax

Meguires NXT Wax

Meguires Scratch X

Meguires Mirror Glaze

Meguires Swirl Remover

Eagle One Nano Wax

Mothers Carnuba Wax

Zymol Carnuba Wax

Mothers Black to Black

Meguires Insane Tire Shine NXT

PC7336SP

Meguires Cutting Pad

Meguires Polishing Pad

Meguires Finishing Pad

Meguires 5" BackPad

Counter Weight

The microfiber cloths i use arnt the best, they are from some microfiber company and you can buy them at walmart i can going to be switching these to cobra i think.

As you can prolly tell most of my things can be bought at your local walmart because i always detailed cars for family and frriends as a hobby. Now im going to start to charge and get some extra money. I need some reccomendations for pretty much anything cause im starting this buisness off very well i have a long list of customers and i got a bay at a local body shop to do all of them.

Ranges from a Black STI, Black Caddy STS, to a Black Avalanche, and an Older Black Durango
