Question:

3D's Ready to use and 50 to 1 glass cleaners. Can they safely be used on window tint film without any damage like ammonia based cleaners will do?

Good question. I received some ReadyMix in a giveaway a while back, but never used it on cars since it didn't specifically say ammonia-free. It's been great for around the house, I just didn't want to risk it on window tint. If it is ammonia-free, it's good stuff.

my local walmart has not picked up the surf city stuff yet. i have had some streaking problems with sig. waiting for my order from 3d to come so i try out the 50:1 glass cleaner.

Sprayway is my cleaner of choice.

+1. I've got a bunch of cans of Sprayway in my basement and haven't used it for quite a while. I've been too busy trying to use use the Stoner's, Surf City, Windex super duty, etc. I reached for a can of Sprayway this past week and could not believe how well it works. I've kinda forgotten about it. Great product, and like JC sez, it's widely available and for short $$$. Certainly worth a try.

(I've started applying the glass cleaner to the MF or cleaning wand thing instead of directly to the glass. My windows are pretty clean apart from off-gassing in my new car, and I hate to get the overspray all over everything when I use the glass cleaners. This is a successful strategy for light-duty cleaning.)

Just checked the 3D site, and they say the 50:1 is ammonia-free. I assume this would mean the ReadyMix is as well, although they don't specifically say it. From the descriptions, they sound like the same formula, just concentrated or ready-to-use.

i didn't even ask. just bought the concentrate. they very well could be the same formula. not sure you could get them to admit it.

I'll experiment with some DI water from my CRS in a spray bottle.

Plain water doesn't work worth [anything] for me, virtually zero solvent action on the stuff I clean off glass.

Stoner's is barely better than plain water for me. It doesn't clean that well, I have to rub really hard for it to clean, it streaks, etc... when in doubt, some IPA does the trick everytime.

Stoner's Invisible Glass with a smaller WW towel.

Although I have also used Quickshine and that works well too. Actually, it seems to work well on most anything it touches on the exterior!

I was an IG guy when i first started, but soon switched to Meg's Glass Cleaner from the Detailer's Line. Very economical and great performance. However, I do believe that technique and towel type are 90% of the end result - I prefer using Wal-Mart waffleweave towels from the kitchen section.

Accumulator -

All this talk about glass cleaners has got me inquiring...

I'm about 6 ounces shy before running out of E1 and have 2 cans of the Sprayaway left.

How does the ammonia free very cost effective Zep stack up ?
