Your favorite glass cleaner?

It's not even a matter of direct sunlight, it's a matter of the glass is HOT from just sitting in the texas heat. I have hit and miss results with SIG, always have over the past 10 years.

I'll get it to look streak free until you get the light gleaming off the windshield at just the right time of day (early morning, late evening) and you can see lots of streaking.
Surf City Clearly Better Glass can be used in the sun or on hot glass.

ONR at QD strength for inside glass using 540 gram 16 x 16 MF towels, I can get them streak free even working outside. Clearkote's Quikshine for the exterior glass, again using the 540 gram MF towels.

Thicker towels seem to keep work best, so does using a lot of glass cleaner. Too little and you are just smearing around whatever is already on the glass instead of cleaning it.

I've heard this, unfortunately the PepBoys near me carries just about everything SCG makes OTHER than the glass cleaner. I might resort to ordering direct.. though I have a couple of other glass cleaners I want to try first.

I have had great success with SIG.

I make sure the glass is clean in terms of loose debris removed before using the glass cleaner. I will spray the towel once, and then the glass. I let it sit momentarily before wiping it off, making sure I remove all of the major areas of concern. After the glass has been cleaned once, I find a new spot on the towel, mist the glass again [using less product] and go over it once more removing any streaks or remains from the initial cleaning, then using a dry, plush MF, I buff the glass to make sure all of the product is removed and the glass has no contaminants left on it.

On the outside the initial cleaning with with the aerosol cleaner, and the final misting is with the spray+repellant.

SIG gives me the streaks too. I've tried applying liberal amounts of it, use two different towels, applied in shaed or sun,...results are the same. Looks good in the shade, get it out into direct sunlight and looks terrible.

Switched to CG Glass cleaner, and no problems. I can get 3 gals. out of 1 gal. also. More cost effective than aerosol cans.

With SIG. "less is more" seems to work better. But it's not perfect with heat adding conplications.

I'm glad I am not the only one. I kept reading rave reviews of SIG, but I could NEVER get it to not leave a film. Particularly bad when driving eastbound in the morning. I gave up and ended up throwing out about a quarter of the can

That's frustrating to read great reviews of a product, and then not have any success with it. Oh well. I also use the CG Citrus Gloss shampoo. Very concentrated and leaves a nice shine.

You guys are gonna laugh, but the best glass cleaner I've used is Porsche's glass cleaner. It's expensive, a tiny bottle's like $7 or $8 the last time I bought it, but it does work very well.

Question:

3D's Ready to use and 50 to 1 glass cleaners. Can they safely be used on window tint film without any damage like ammonia based cleaners will do?

Sprayway is my cleaner of choice.

I had problems (as well as several other people) of Stoners leaving a film on the inside of windshields which I never get with Sprayway.

I also like the foaming action that Sprayway delivers and two added bonuses...

Great smelling and can be had on the cheap at Home Depot for $2.38 a can or when my local hardware store has a sale for $1.99 a can!

I use SIG most of the time. I've actually had a few "bad" cans of SIG though over the last year or so. I had one that was way under pressurized, and one that seemed to streak, no matter what I did (bought a new can, used them side by side with the same towels and got streaks/film with one but not the other). A buddy of mine that's a tinter swears by sprayway, I've had pretty good luck with it as well when I run out of SIG and can't find it close.

I've used D120 over at Rasky's shop and it was really good (can't really beat the price either) so I might grab some of that too.

X2 In my experience works better than Invisible Glass. It forms a slight haze after the first wipe with a towel dampened with it that makes it very easy to remove all streaks with the second dry towel. It's now available at Walmart, but a bit pricey $5.97 per bottle.
