I love reading all the posts and looking at all the awesome shiny cars but man...After about a year,i am about to toss in the mf towel:buffing:Started off buying the more expensive store stuff, wash wax etc.Not happy,i take to the internet and a whole new world of car detailing opens up.I read read read and ask questions and decide on some products.I want something simple to start.I go to Adams, get the sudsy soaps, the Americana wax, detail sprays, grit guards yada yada yada. All set,go!I am clay baring washing drying like a pro now.I like it,nice improvement,i feel good about taking care of my car.I get a sud gun...Wooo bubbles!
I think ok,i'm getting better,i buy better quality mf towels,i buy ones for wheels, ones for windows, one for interior, ones for polishing,waxing,drying....I am watching all the videos,it at first seems odd to watch a video on how to wash your car.Lol
next i break down and go for the pc,again from Adams,i get the stepped up kit,pc and like 4 or 5 different bottles of stuff.Scary at first but i watch so many videos,i feel i can comfortably do this.WoW what a job!I bet i spent over 6-7 hours my first time.washing, claying, washing, drying,I start with orange then black then white,i follow it all up with some Americana the next day.
Through all of this,i have one issue.Working in my garage,i cannot make it around my car without coming to the beginning and finding a nice layer of dust on all the stuff i just did.I tried wetting the floor,i keep the doors closed,it doesn't matter. As soon as i roll it out,it is like a huge magnet.
I try other products, some CG stuff, some collinte,i bring home some ro water from work.Dust dust dust.I have probably spent well over $600 in products and supplies.I think at this point i am just going to have to live with it,i have no more answers and am pretty discouraged.I am guessing it has to do with my gravel drive, but i can't see any dust kicking up from it.It's not a good feeling to spend as much money as i have then spend 7 hours of hard labor getting everything just right to only roll it out and look at a nice thick layer of dust across your hood.I can either california dust it,which makes me cringe, spray detail which am not sure is much better.I was going to buy a bottle of ONR,get some ro water from work and try that as a quick detailer/waterless wash.I am not sure if that would help.
I need some magic formula that repels the dust :chuckle: until then,i'll just keep reading and lookin at all the pretty cars!
