Yesterday's Detail (bmw 540i6)

Well, I had a detail cancel yesterday because of rain and I figured how better to spend my day off than detailing my own car, in the rain.

Maybe Im just a little crazy :D

Heres what I used:

optimum compound on a cutting pad

meguiar's 80 on polishing pad

clearkote rmg (glaze)

Four star UPP (sealant)

pinnacle souveran carnauba (applied today)

I hadn't detailed my car in about 6 months and I had some swirls all over the paint, which were driving me crazy. THis was my first time using optimum compound and I now love the stuff. It is pretty heavy cut, so if you don't know what you are doing I would NOT recommend this.

The upp and souveran combo looks awesome, feels awesome, and beads like crazy. When I left a detail in diamond bar this evening it was absolutely pouring. I was really bummed that it was raining on my clean car. ABout halfway home the rain stopped and by the time I pulled into the garage there was not a single drop of water on the paint. That says something about the slickness upp and souveran if you ask me :D

Now for the pics:

that should do it for pics :)

BTW, Ignore the wheels. It was raining and I didnt feel like washing them. They take longer to wash than the rest of the car :(

Probaby a little residue from polish or the LSP. Mix up a bottle of iso prophyl alcohal and water 50:50, go once around after the polishing stages and prior to the lsp, it works great!

Nice job!

whatever it was, is now gone. I used some qd on that area this morning just in case and upon close inspection in the sun later today there is nothing.

I thought it was a buffer trail too. I've found that sometimes you can only see them from a specific angle when the light source is at the perfect opposing angle. I found a couple on my friend's hood that could only be seen when you stood directly in front of the hood, from 3 feet away, with a halogen 90 degrees to the side. Weird science.

Looks pretty good, any more full car shots? :)

Not all the pics are loading for me. :nixweiss

I think I have a few more. I shot in raw mode on my cam so I am going to have to edit and resize them to post. Maybe I'll get some up later tonight.

All the pics are loading for me. Any one else having problems?

Nice looking ride man! You have great choice! :xyxthumbs

I agree with you on the combo that you used. It works good! Not only that, but BMW paint cleans up VERY well!! Jet Black shines really good to.

Oh yeah, 6 speeds rock to!!

Beautiful car! I almost purchased some m parallels recently, but decided against it since I just bought new tires for the stocker's.
