Yellow LC Pads

Last week I tried removing some swirls and scratches with Menzerna IP and an orange LC pad. It didn't work very well, should i go down to a yellow pad or should this combo have worked? Am I doing something wrong? I applied about 3 drops onto the pad and worked it in for a few minutes until it was about dry. Is the yellow pad too harsh? The people at proper auto care said this is a pretty harsh pad?

well, how did it look when you got done with the orange pad? Did it not really make much of a difference?

If so, then sure try the yellow, its not like its made of jagged diamonds.

Probably not doing anything wrong, just make sure you are using speed 6 and a lot of pressure and slow movement.

LC Orange with Ip would remove some deep stuff... But yes Yellow is the strongest LC Flat foam pad.

What kind of car is this process being done to?

Also, before wiping the residue off the panel you did. Do the 2' x 2' area and then wipe a few inches away in the middle to see if its removing anything; if not, keep going at it. If that don't work go up to the yellow pad. Don't forget to do a final polish after IP/Yellow if that works. Maybe what you're seeing is hazing/micromarring from the Orange/IP combo if the paint is really soft.

Here's your problem. 3 drops may be right for SIP but not IP. You need to apply a nice ring around the pad for IP to work. The abrasives are very different as are the lubricants.
