Yellow Corvette Z06

This car belongs to my buddy that doesn't know how to take care of his car. Some of you might remember the pictures I posted up after I detailed it a few months back. The car has a procharger and was dynoed at 550 RWHP so she goes pretty good. Anyways, the car was in pretty rough shape for being detailed only a few months ago. There were scratches on most of the panels, but none of them were too severe. The motor and wheels were filthy and there was rubber all over the rear 1/4 panels from doing burnouts. Interior was just a little dusty.

Here is my process:

Washed exterior, cleaned wheels & engine compartment

Scraped rubber from 1/4 panels with a plastic razor blade and used tar remover to remove the black haze left from the rubber

Clayed complete exterior with Opti-Clay

Polished complete exterior w/ SSR2 by rotary

Polished complete exterior w/ Optimum polish by rotary

Hand application of Natty's Blue

Kar Kraft - Super Blue dressing on tires & wheel wells

Sealed wheels with AIO

Complete interior detail

Here are the before pictures:

looks awesome. What really works better for me other than using a plastic razorblade is WD40 & a terry towel. the tar just smears off try it sometime.

Rick, Great job!

What did you clean/polish the borla tips with? Looks like his tuner has him a bit on the rich side, but better then being too lean. :2thumbs:

I hate BSMs (body side moldings) on a vette, on the last one I did I applied IP and FPII by hand in those areas. Looks like the next one that I do will not have BSMs.

Excellent transformation!!!! :bow

What type of springs does he have on that Z06. Sits rather high. New England roads? :nixweiss

I own a C5 and I love the body side molding. :D

I believe the suspension is stock. He has drag radials on the back which are pretty bald, so that might be the reason why it looks so tall ??

Actually a Z06 due to its stiffer springs will not drop as far on the stock bolts as the coupe or vert. It appears that he is still at stock factory height.

NICE! Such a disgrace that the car will be back to the "before" condition in a matter of a few months, though. :(

I keep driving by this "for sale" red Z06 in somebody's driveway.... it's sitting under about 2 ft. of snow and ice, and it doesn't have a car cover on it. I seriously just want to buy it to get it out of the uncaring hands of its current owner. :furious:
