Hello everyone!

My name is John, and I just stumbled onto this forum. My first thoughts were....WOW!!

I am not as experienced as some of the people on here but I cannot wait to learn anything and everything there is to the detailing world.

I enjoy seeing the work on here as well as in car shows etc. I'm not new to the detailing world, but I know for sure there is a lot I don't know.

I mostly enjoy the maintenance side of cleaning my car but have recently been inching into the paint correction side of detailing.

My current ride is a 2014 Focus ST but one of my favorite cars to detail was my old 1994 3000GT SL.

Please excuse some of the pictures.. they are old cell pictures. But this is some of my work as well as my new car which I plan to do a full paint correction on for the orange peel.













 
Yes there is a TON of metallic in this paint. I was unsure of it but I think I like it. It is really fun to drive and gets good mileage.
 
I'm betting on it!!

As far as the orange peel (which was not noticeable when I took delivery of the car) does anyone have any experience removing this safely on a new car? I know the paint itself is not "new", just the car..lol

I also would like to avoid wet sanding as I have no experience with that. I have read about the denim pads and velvet pads. are these safe for factory paint?
 
Congrats on the car, and this place is wealth of information. Just hope it doesnt cost you as much money as it has me on new products and toys. Its only a hobby for me so no return on investment other than the joy of a near perfect car.

I had the choice between my TB ST3 and a PB ST2, That blue is stunning!

Yes this is the exact link I read and was actually the place I found this forum. I read on there that the velvet pads were more for factory paint while the denim pads were for repainted vehicles. Do you have any experience?

:welcome: John! I also stumbled upon this treasure trove of detailing resources.
Paint care is a bug, and it got me good. Within a week of reading and growing my base of detailing knowledge I purchased several hundred dollars in exterior detailing equipment/products (mostly from the autopia store) and haven't looked back!

Enjoy all that AF has to offer.
