If that were the case then Meguiar's wouldn't have accepted his resignation in the first place and he would have never announced he was leaving.

This whole situation is really crazy. I always wish Mike & Richard the best, but I'm very disappointed and perplexed by this whole thing. Unshackling Mike from the corporate rules of Meguiar's would have been a very interesting situation. I was excited to see what that would have meant for the detailing community. Plus, the "How to Use a Rotary for Show Car Results" DVD is likely dead again. I've been looking forward to that DVD for a LONG time now as the PC DVD was so good.
