Would you call this depth?

Grabbed this shot when I got home the other night. The sun was tucked behind the other buildings but still light up the upper floors of my building.

Many people claim different meanings behind depth, but as I have always perceived it as a reflection that remains clear and sharp farther and farther away or a reflection that does not diminish over a given distance. In this case, the top of the building is about 45ft above my car.

So what do you think?

Looks really deep. It really reminds me of the "look" you describe in this thread- http://autopia.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=46376 and http://autopia.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=46054, while this one glows more- http://autopia.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=45874, while I think this one is more plasticy- http://autopia.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=43237. My favorite look though is this one- http://autopia.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=44325, I think its the perfect combo of them all.

Good work and keep the pics coming.

Great pic!

To me, depth means that you can look into the paint as though it were a deep pond of water. You will have both reflections and depth.

It's difficult to explain. Think of it this way: a paint surface that only reflects can actually make it difficult to see the "depth" of the actual paint color.

Anyway, I guess I know depth when I see it despite the fact that I can't explain what it is very good.

And your TEG has it!

you call that depth?? yeah right.. i just see a bunch of swirls and maring all over the place. you have a lot to learn... start browsing through and take some tips from the experienced detailers on here.

PS: i'nm pretty sure that was sarcasm

I just barely scratched the surface though, I mean I'm not sure if I even got out of October. Its crazy to think that with your busy schedule detailing and school that you have time to try all these different combinations and have time to take pictures of your car every week and share the nuances of the "looks" with us. Next weeks pictures I want that dipped in salad oil look with a touch of reflection, ok? :D Well don't share them all with us, leave some for the winter! Its pretty cool. :xyxthumbs :xyxthumbs

Greg: :lol

Next week is actually high gloss, and no depth...I'll give ya a better hint...it's a winter sealant :)

I still got a bunch of others lined up for now, but yes I'm a pretty busy guy ;)

Uh Oh! I have a feeling you are talking about Zaino. I cannot wait to hear your review of Zaino, although you might be talking about Klasse. You know I don't frequent Autopia as much as I used to because its always the same thing over and over, but I always look forward to your reviews and pictures, because you can always tell a difference in the paint with different products. I bet Zaino looks so much different on your Cinnabar Red Paint that it probably doesn't even look like the same car anymore! Well keep up the good work Sean!!

Greg, are you done?

You bashed him first, he was polite and let it go, then you did it again, and he was polite to you again. And now you continue.....and then you have the nerve to complain that the board has gone to crap
