ok everyone, who has it? I mean the best. I almost ready to use newspaper. I did the search and got some ideas but looking for the (A)utopia of the glass towel. If you could, run down the makers and where i may purchase these. I use EO 20/20 and IG and still streaks are present. I really think it's the towel. Right now i use a very low nap MF khaki towel that I purchase from DavidB, and OTC glass towels. Oh yeah, paper towels too which actually seem to work the best.

What is the best way to care for these towels as well?

I'm getting these as soon as i can get some suggestions.

Thanks

Derek

Dont think it is the towel. Use one MF to clean the window as normal. Keep another completely dry MF to dry buff the window after cleaning it. Store and wash your window towels separately from other towels so not to contaminate them with oils, silicones, etc. I wash my towels with Tide.

Do you clean your windows in direct heat ? Try to follow up with a 50/50 90% alchohol / distilled water spray wiping that off with a clean mf or lint free paper towel

I like the Poorboy's Work Towels for glass. There are also some green Microtex glass towels in WalMart that aren't bad, but they curl up a little after washing.

I hesitate to mention "glass MFs" because I've had some of them lint something awful, and MF lint on glass is a royal pain to remove. I sorta like using suede-style MFs for this, if only because there is less trouble with linting than there can be with plush ones. I also like the polypropolene window towels from Griot's. But IMO *nothing* is foolproof, you just gotta pull it into the right lighting (early morning/late afternoon, when the sun is at the right angle) and do it over and over until it's perfect. I use one towel damp with window cleaner and the another that's dry.

Yes, when i don't have a choice. Will the 50/50 alcohol-water mix remove any streaks that may be there even though they're not visible?

I've used the two towel method and stil not streak free. I think it's the towels because i have washed them with my other MF a time or two :wall. So now i'm looking for the definity in glass towels; which will be kept and washed separately

Yeah I like the suede-style ones as well. Where can these be purchased at?

Glass has always been one of the harder aspects of detailing for me. I was originally using these lint free towels (from my distributor - they're blue, not very soft and are supposedly used in hospitals to clean operating instruments) with the 2 towel method and a variety of glass cleaners. I've used alcohol dilutions, wholesale concentrate, Invisible Glass, other foaming cleaners, plain water, and though some glass came out perfect it was still no walk in the park. I got so fed up that I started using newspaper on windshields and rear windshields because they are the hardest for me. I don't see anything wrong with using it if it works...
