Working on my Garage

Greg Gellas

I'm Greg :)
Started my garage renovation tonight....Spackling the ceiling tonight...And moving $hit out...Will get a ton of crap out tomorrow, trying to open it up as much as I can....Tomorrow I will paint the walls and the electrican comes to run wires...The electrican is a buddy....I am gonna rewire the entire garage...Outlets on one fuse, lights on another, garage door on another, all on an extra sub-panel we have here...:D Easy peasy....:D Still deciding on what lights to utalize..Ideas?

I am torn on flooring I had epoxy on the floor and it lifted so I don't want to do that again...But the Roll out coin pattern mats aren't wide enough and will leave 1.5' on either side of the garage....That seems to be the most economical choice too...Maybee I will run Outddor carpet along the outside edges....Thoughts? Somthing around a grand...:nixweiss

Heres the progress tonight...:o

You have a lot of work ahead of you!

Hope this helps with ideas

The cheap epoxy isn't worth a damn. Mine is lifting as well, not to mention brake fluid broke it down and caused it to bubble. Need to get industrial grade. A buddy bought some from Sherman Williams and drives an F250 over it with minimal signs of wear. Hasn't peeled from hot tire either. Good stuff but $$$.

:bolt...I know I won't ever get it that empty...Any improvment is good for me :D

Thats why I was thinking about the roll out rubber floor instead of the epoxy to solve any lifting problems..

If you are gonna use epoxy go with the Wolverine coating. Its expensive but it is the best. If you wanna go a little cheaper, try edison coatings out of NY.

You got some work ahead of you. I just redid my garage a few months back, I put down black flooring, it was the roll out BLT Mats. I love it, easy to clean and went with white walls. Put in a few cabinets and I was amazed out it went from looking like a storage unit to a working garage I can put two cars into. Took me a good two days to do it, but when you are done you will be so happy!

Just a preview..:p Then to bed...I am exhausted I got ALOT of **** done tonight...

Befores of the work bench top...

All the wiring is done for the lights...Put the T5's on their own seperate switch....THe hanging lights will be ceiling mounted and hard wired also...He is coming back to install the Outlets in the ceiling, 5 total, 2 for the garage doors, 2 for retractable extension cords, and an extra :D We also got all the garage door wiring up into the attic there...

Ok one more teaser :D I can't help myself...Remember those brown cabinets and the chimney to the left of the work bench... Well Before and afters...Making progress...Wish I could go faster but its tedious work...Still have to pull the sink and sand prime and paint behind that...Wanted to get the workbench back in its spot to get it out of the way :D

This is getting to me now..I am still working on this by myself as my helper still hasn't showed up and I was literally RUNNING to get stuff done today...:sadpace: I was hoping to have this done over the weekend...I got ALOT done today. No more pics until I am doen though :o It will be one hell of a turnaround. Detailing is what were about and thats what I am doing with the garage too :D

So for now...I am done...I am waiting for the electrician to come back and finish up wiring the outles for the ceiling. There are a total of 5 going in....I added a 5th since my last decision...;) So I can't spackle and paint the ceiling, well I won't until everything is done up there...:D

Remember the befores? :o Ingore the beer pong and car cover pic...Its just to show HOW BAD it really was before...:)

On to the garage...I had these extra handles from a sub zero fridge that is in my kitchen so I decided to utalize them. I added one to the front of the work bench, and one to the wall next to where I will be detailing cars....I know the one against the wall looks like a ballet bar :o But there is a reason for them...

Throughout you can notice all the little details that were done in the theme of cars and garages....I have some more paiting and some finishing touches to do...and a bunch of other pictures to put up....
