Wool Rotary Pads?

Beemerboy

Just One More Coat
I have the Edge system, and was looking at the wool pads for it the other day....I have used wool a lot in the past, in fact that's all I used:D

Since foam pads have come about I have not touched wool since...I know that wool is good for wet sanding marks, but the cutting pad that I have seems to work just fine

My question is what's the major difference in wool to foam cutting pad, it terms of the finish left on the car

I believe technology has allowed newer foam pads to have the same cutting and or polishing abilities as their wool counter parts.

Along with some side benefits, such as, after I use a wool pad I get those annoying fiber wool pieces every where. Also for me I find less sling with a foam pad and the product tends to distribute itself nicely over the pad rather then conentrate itself in one particular area.

wool will remain cooler when you need to do a lot of cutting or polishing out of sanding marks ... I still prefer wool for heavy duty jobs and also for working on aluminum as Pockets and i did for fire engine diamond plate ;)

I love wool for hd jobs, but it is messier. I have never burned through with wool, but guys in my shop have caused damage with even an Edge green pad (a med polish).

Thanks all I am going to get one or two...I do like wool for polishing metals, the one that I have now is a tie on jobbie...PITA

tie on :hmmm: is that like a clip on bow tie :lol2:

Wool is the best for severe defects and Edge make the best wool pads
I have their black wool pad, the strongest pad there is

The best thing about wool is that they are easier to control than cutting foam pads at times.

No the one that I had where like bonnets, I have a rubber backing plate, then the bonnet would tie onto the backing plate...I know ole school

I know i just hadn't seen one in so long ;)
The best wool pads are made by Schlagel ...check around they are often the secret stash of a body shop supply store. :dnaughty

I looked up the pads that you mentioned Steve, they are cheap meaning in the per-unit price....Why do you feel that they are the best?

Been using them for over 20 years and the quality is great and they last ..they are mostly sold to body shops not the average guy;)
