Wolfgang vs Pinnacle

Well I would hate to put people on the spot but if you would have to choose between these two products lines, which one would choose? (and yes exclusive) (and not just because of the Souveran paste wax either) :confused: Which line is better overall?
 
Actually I feel very strongly both ways. :yay I think the answer lies in whether someone wants to use a sealant or whether they prefer to use a carnauba wax. It's not as simple as pick a line. Now if you mean which line has the greater number of products that work very well then it's a little more quantifiable. If push came to shove I would probably pick Pinnacle. I am a big Souveran fan but with respect to the question asked I would give this line the edge because of the introduction of their XMT polishes/glazes/cleaners. I don't really think Wolfgang's strengths are in the polish area and if you have a swirl monster this has to be a consideration. In either case if I had to live with the products from only one of these lines and it were exclusively for my vehicles I could "get by" very nicely. Quite frankly I feel the same way about PoorBoys products.

There isn't one brand that is superior to the other. Both lines are made by PBMA so I'm sure that they share some similarities in, for example, the paint cleaners, swirl removers, clay lube etc. That being said either one of them would work. Pinnacle has the Souveran wax which is great and then Wolfgang has the Deep Gloss Sealant. It varies from person to person but there isn't just one line that a person will use exclusively.

While a lot of us do use products from several different manufacturers, (me included), I do think that using only the products from any one of several companies could give you excellent results.

While I'm not familiar with either Wolfgang or Pinnacle product lines, isn't Pinnacle more wax oriented and Wolfgang more into sealants?

I use a number of different products from different lines as well.

I have received many compliments with Wolfgang sealant topped with Pinnacle signature series wax.

It all depends on the look that the user is looking for and what appleals to them.

I like both lines but I prefer pinnacle products. they do have a slight price increase on some products but in a side by side comparison of some other brand in the same category, pinnacle almost always wins my heart. that said, if I was running a business and had to choose one line only, DP.

I really like Wolfgangs clay and like to use Pinnacles XMT on customer cars. Both are great products.
 
Wolfgang and Pinnacle are two very different breeds, designed to work with two very different customers.

Pinnacle is the show winners choice in a simple to use, best of show, no holds barred carnauaba based wax. All the products were and are designed to work well together within the line. That said, I prefer the newer XMT polishes over the original Pinnacle Swirl Removers, and they are infinetely compatible.

Wolfgang was designed shortly after all the paint sealants hit the market. It was designed to be warmer in appearance and try to mimic some of the wetness missing from the sythentics. As most will note, it is a very easy to use line that offers longer durability and kinda falls between some sealants and their carnauba counterparts. Polymer technology from outside the US is the benefit of this line.

While all car care products may share some basis or ingredients, it is the amount of each and the small different additives that create larger differences. While Wolfgang and Pinnacle may look similar to each other, I can assure you that there are some big differences in their makeup. Both have their faithful ... and both can be used together, but I still would give Pinnacle the edge in final outcome while Wolfgang certainly would not lose any shows !!

I bought the WG package from Autogeek (great site BTW) and here's my take, the AutoBathe is nothing special, the Clay works great, I've yet to hear a negative on that, Swirl Remover - weak as water, I used it as a prep for the LSP, Pre-wax cleaner - again wimpy, Sealant - we have a WINNER! Spritz spray - nice touch. So, get the clay and sealer, maybe the spritz.

XMT line - I used the Glaze, couldn't tell that it had much effect, #1 - sucks, dusts, weak, stinks - OK I hate it, #3, GOOD - nice smell, I used it as a polish to restore some dead paint, w/PC and LC orange pad. Never tried the PS wax, I'm a sealer kind of guy.
 
wow these are all great responses, and it looks like I have a big decision to make...(that is choosing between carnauba or a sealent)... What about the interior cleaning stuff??...Any response on there carpet/upholstery cleaners????
 
Why don't you get both? I usually use the sealant for the base coat and top it off with a couple layers of carnauba.
 
Wax over sealer - been there, done that with WG and Natty's Blue on my Flint Mica Matalic Rav4. I didn't care for the look and it seemed to attract dust, the kind that sticks and doesn't blow off on the freeway. So, I waited about 6 weeks, used the WG pre-wax cleaner and then Duragloss, PBA and 105. Now there's a shine. I think you can layer sealers and you can layer waxes, but you can't put a sealer over a wax. And if you're a sealer guy like me or one of the Zaino boys, then that's an important factoid to know.

The DP and the WG carpet and upholstery cleaners are both excellent. :)

You're right, you shouldn't put a sealant over a wax. The sealant wouldn't have anything to bond to. I've never had a problem with putting a wax over a sealant though. The shine has always been fantastic.
