Wolfgang vs. BfII vs. Platinum aka Fourstar

Ok, just a quick observation, nothing scientific, or even sampled, but im willing to say Wolfgang, while comparing to Blackfire and Platinum, has some very similiar characteristics.....This is just an impression upon receiving my sample kit the other day, and opening it up, smelling, and touching......

Anyone have a similiar thought ?



Actually the smell can stand on its own, but i think the polish has a touch of BF/Plat.....
 
I think Wolfgang is very slick like UPP, similar color but WG is slightly thicker and instead of a wintergreen scent (at least my version of UPP) it smells like aftershave.



Both products look wet, but WG is more liquid looking, IMO.
 
I might order some to see how it compares to their old Detailer's Pride Paint Sealant. Anyone want to exchange something?
 
How long has Wolfgang been available? Based on what is known about it, how likely is it that it will be as durable as Blackfire or UPP? I'm about to buy to more sealant and was going to get a couple bottles of UPP. Maybe I should get one of each instead (have 4 cars in household - 3 currently coated with UPP and 1 with Blackfire).
 
I found it to be much easier to use than Blackfire. Easy on and easy off, and very forgiving when too much is applied. I also like the look of WC better, IMO it is more reflective.



After reading about Platnium Protection a couple of years ago (Drivers Seat Store), I was surprised to see it was renamed or sold under a different name now. (Four Star) . That being said, the products appear very similar in description, and I was wondering if they are also owned by the same company, shared technology, and remarketed or quinsidental to NEW Wolfgang products.
 
tcl: Wolfgang products just made its debut. You can buy it from Autogeek starting March 15th. There are pictures of the kit and links to the wolfgang.com sites in various threads too. Sounds like it's going to be around $65.00. Then there's the glass cleaner, leather cleaner, leather conditioner, .....:rolleyes:

Seems like a totally different company. 4Star is Platinum renamed due to a copyright problem.
 
With so many similar product lines, I've always suspected that these smaller companies in Florida may have the same chemical engineer in common. I doubt that any of them actually have a chemist permanently on staff, so it most likely is subcontracted. Probably from someone well known for his/her expertise in car care chemicals. Im sure once a chemical compound is developed, it would be easy to make adjustments to make different yet similar lines, for different companies.

You just have to wonder why so many very similar boutique type products, all come from Florida. Even the companies that retail them, all seem to share a common thread.
 
Actually, 4 Star actually does have a chemist on staff. The owner of 4 Star is a chemist who makes all the 4 Star products. I wouldn't be surprised to know that they all have a chemist on staff.

Wolfgang looks better. I found the DPPS to be kind of difficult to remove and left a real sterile shine. I think the Wolfgang is marginally easier to remove and the shine is better. However, I still think Zaino is slicker.



I will exchange some Wolfgang with you, PM me.
 
Ok, i had to see for my self. Now im comparing to BFII, and Plat, and only for the reasons that i started this thread, because i got the impression, it was very similiar to those products. My findings:

Polish is probably the more difficult of the 3 to apply, but maybe it was the applicator (MF sponge). However, removal was probably the easiest. The sealant is difficult to even see on my Dodge Ram, i thought i wasnt applying enough, again, maybe the applicator or color of my truck made that possible (Sponge). Removal was simple, as easy as the other two prod's......Shine was excellent, imo the best of the three. Very smooth, very bright. Im not going as far as saying it brought any more depth or anything, but made the surface very glossy.....Excellent reflection also....ne thing i did notice was that its no where near as oily as BF, not even oily like Plat.....Its definetly a keeper in my book....Longevity will play out through the Spring. (Like im going to wait until spring is over to try the next newest product!)

Got the free Wolfgang kit from Autogeek.net love it, I think it is much easier than the others to work with applying and removing.

Not much a fan of Zaino, way to much work involved. So far I love the Wolfgang products.:up
 
Sounds like the Wolfgang sealant is worth a try from the reviews so far. I'll continue to use UPP on two of our vehicles, finish up my supply of Blackfire on the third car, and try Wolfgang on the fourth. If they keep coming out with promising new sealants this often, I'm going to run out of cars to try them on.

That is a HUGE plus in my book. I've done four vehicles (E-Class, 3 Series, ML and a Pathfinder) and the bottle still looks full!



BTW, the Pre-Cleaner is A LOT easier to apply using a foam hand pad but you may get less polishing effect than with the MF pad.
 
Scott, thats why i used the MF pad.....I wanted maximum benefit...Im really impressed with the stuff, I put on another coat of sealant tonight, and with all that pollen i posted a pic of earlier, its not attracting any dust or pollen.......
 
I pour all of my products into smaller bottles. I filled a 4 oz. bottle with WG sealant, and have done two cars (a Dodge Caravan, and my WRX) . . . by my estimate, I've used just over 1/2 oz (if that).
