Wiper chatter help???

Ok. I applied Aquapel today and went out in the rain to try it out. Works good, but wipers SKIP both ways.

Windshield prep:

Washed windshield

Polished with ZAINO Z-12 with PC and yellow pad

Wiped with alcohol

applied Aquapel making sure entire windshield got covered - let dry for 5-10 minutes.

Removed with papertowels until smearing gone

Works good, but skipping wipers is driving me crazy. Any suggestions?

Two things:

1) Scrub the wiper blades with rubbing alcohol to get all the dead rubber off. If the blades are in rough shape, replace them.

2) Don't use the blades unless you are in slow city traffic. Isn't that the reason you got Aquapel to begin with?

IMHO, alcohol would possibly dry out the material of the blades. I know I've seen threads here, to just clean the wiper blades with soapy water, rinse then dry them off. Should be good to go.

I had this very same problem after applying Aquapel. I don't know how old your wiper blades are, but my problem was that I had scrubbed off the moly coating on the blades I had because I kept thinking it was dirt (it's black stuff). I would not suggest cleaning them too vigorously or harshly. I had been doing that pre-Aquapel, and doing it again did not help the chatter. The moly coating on new blades helps the rubber glide over the glass better. Because Aquapel isn't as slippery as something like Rain-X, it can chatter if the blades are too grippy. It was so bad on my car that the wiper arm (driver's side of course, while its raining...) popped off its pivot!

I fixed the problem by applying a very tiny coating of vinyl/rubber protectant to the blades. Do NOT put too much on or you'll leave streaks or a line where the blades park. Try to apply as little as possible and buff it thoroughly but gently. After a few applications it must soak in a bit or something because my wiper "treatments" like this have been becoming farther and farther apart. I haven't reapplied any protectant for months now and they still wipe well.

Hope this helps. :)

EDIT: Aquapel is amazing stuff! I applied it in the fall and it's still there!
