Winter Wiper Fluid

I have seen a couple of different brands of winter "deicing" wiper fluid at local stores. These products claim to remove light frost/ice and to not freeze on your windshield.



Do they work and more importantly, are these safe for my car's finish??
 
I know as a fact that rain-x washer fluid will stain the paint. We did a red Civic and could not figure out what the stains were, figured it was the rain-x washer fluid. A check with our local body shop revealed that they see that a lot with those fancy washer fluids. I guess if you wash your car a lot then it might not be a problem but I know in winter my car does not get washed half of what it should.

P21S Wash Booster (same as the BMW and Porsche washer fluid)it’s compatible with anti-freeze washer fluids and won’t stain paintwork.

I'll second the P21S wash booster recommendation. A much improved product following its re-formulation.



Many windshield washer solutions stain but I have not found them to be permanent.



many contain isppropyl alcohol...that's an obvious one to avoid.

Is that with the rain-x de-icer only or all rain-x (debugger...regular additives and so one) products.
 
somewhat related: how about wiper blades? The passenger-side blade on my car is toast, so I'm going to replace both of them today probably. Are the Bosch blades worth the $$?

Don't get the Bosch blades.. they tend to streak.



Many years I have gotten them thinking they were the best I could get until I went to a local Part Source and he wouldn't sell me the more expensive Bosch wipers (unless you demanded them).. He recommended another brand but have since forgotten the name :nixweiss .. They work real good though..



I will find out the name after school.
 
I have two year old PIAAs on the Explorer. Still work great. I change the Cads annco blades ea. year and still spend less than the PIAA. I'd go w/annco .

I use the RainX w/s deicer and havent noticed any problems. Both my vehs. are black. Go figure...
 
I did a search on wiper blades and everyone likes the Bosch micro edges and the PIAAs. Wiping the new blade down with IPA and then treating it with 303 seems to help too.

I'm gonna find out :).
 
I only buy the Bosch Micro Edge, not the Micro edge excel. The excel costs more and not worth it in my opinion.

I tried the prestone de-ice washer fluid last year and i guess it worked but left an awful film on the paint. It was red in color.

Now, back our regularly scheduled discsussion. Washer Fluid. So does anyone know were to get some of the PS21, bmw addiative cheaply.
 
Actually I noticed this thread- you guys might want to view the Einszett vendor forum. It looks like Einszett is going to be releasing two products hopefully in December for winter driving-a anti-freeze windshield washer and a de-icer spray. I have used the wash booster from them and I really like it as it works exactly as stated. I figure I've got time to wait for these two before it gets really cold.

My jug says "contains methanol" Is this safe for paint and any "toppers" we may have on ? Also what are some brand names that are affordable and easily accquired that wont screw wit our finishes

Not sure....this incident was the pink stuff....whatever that type is. I will find out for you.
