Winter Wax?

What will you guys be using as your winter protection this year? I personally will be putting some Nitro Seal on my car. Hoping to Polish it out in the next couple of weeks and then applying it. Would like to hear what you guys are planning to use this winter?

The one that sits out under a carport all the time will get the same thing it gets every year, a coat of M20 Polymer Sealant.

The one living in the heated garage/shop will be left available for cold weather product testing; no telling what all it will wear over the course of the season.

M20 is another severely underated product. While the OTC stuff isnt AWESOME, I love the polymer stuff Meg's puts out.

For my car, this winter will be wearing a bunch of of things. This is another season of development and eval for us. 1000P and Collinites as standards, a couple other products and some control short lasting products.

Family's cars either have OptiCoat (because they neglect Lol) or 1000P because it lasts so long and assists in cleaning.

Good choice. I haven't used this in a while. I still think its one of Megs better offerings... a classic.

For the past couple of winters I've used Meg's M21 topped with M16. This year I'm trying Meg's Ultimate Wax for the sealant base, topped with M16.

My DD gets a lot of Laser Touchless washes in the winter as I don't have a heated garage and am getting too darn old to wash my cars in the freezing weather. This combo easily lasted through the 4-5 month of snow, sleet, salt, sand and winter grime. I do a QD (M135) and a UQW (D156) after every touchless wash though. Come spring the car looked great and no swirls were added. A benefit of the touch-less wash is that it also does an undercarriage flush which gets most of the salt off.

For the past couple of winters, I have been putting on a few coats of Zaino on the minivan/car. On the rare occasion that I get to wash it (once every 2 months or so), I will use some Z8 after drying. It goes on around October and definitely has a lot of life left when it's time for some Spring correction/deep cleaning around April. Since the sister-in-law helps with baby-sitting my sons, I will winterize her car with a few coats of Klasse SG - looks better than Zaino on her red paint and has the same level of durability. I get tempted every now and then to try something different, but these products and process works great for me so I never deviate.

I will be testing out some Mark V IP100 on one car, Bilt Hamber Finis Wax on my DD and the wifes van has half Duragloss BETA polish and other haf has Wolf Chemicals body Wrap

I don't change anything for winter, just use the same LSPs as the rest of the year.

For the three winter daily drivers that means FK1000P on the Tahoe, Collinite (845/476S/845 "sandwich") on the '93 Audi, and #16 on my wife's A8.

Accumulator, I don't recall ever seeing this info from you. In light of your environment, this speaks volumes to me.

Nitro Seal applied to both the Miata and the Odyssey and I am thinking of topping them off with Poxy for the winter.

I've got Opti-Coat on mine, going strong after 26 months. Just put an ounce of OCW into the ONR bucket when I wash. Amazing depth for a metallic gold, slick as snot.

I have Nitro Seal on mine, and it is staying on to test durability.

Off Topic- It was great to finally meet in person Thomas. Had a blast at SEMA meeting everyone in person. Keep up the good work and let us know how Nitro Seal holds up. I too will be using it this winter, although I'm sure California winters aren't as harsh as your winters.

Hey, nice to see you posting :wavey

Note that the stable has changed a bit. I was happy with the (heavily layered) KSG that I used on the mininvan, but now that it's gone (and "good riddance to bad rubbish!", what an utter POS that turned out to be) I'm no longer KSGing anything at present.

I changed the A8's M16 to Collinite 476S once, but my wife noticed it immediately (and yeah, that sure astounded me!) and wasn't pleased by the diff. Heh heh, in a perfect world she'd like Souveran on it, but, well... :grinno:

.. In light of your environment, this speaks volumes to me.

It's funny how well the Collinite works on the '93 Audi. I've had some paints that it wouldn't last on, but it's great on that particular vehicle.

I used to use Collinite on the dog-hauler SUV, but the FK1000P simply works better for me. Not as forgiving of flaws though, and it's a very different look.

Not much of a winter here but ill be putting on another layer of CG butter wax as in testing it out right now. Pinnacle souveran on another and 476S on the others.
