"Winter" Wax/ Sealant

With winter fast approaching and already here for some I'm looking to put a "winter" wax or sealant on the autos. I'm debating between megs #16 or 1z Glanz Wax. I have some others I can use but I think they would be my best choices. I've had some GREAT results with Glanz Wax leaning towards that BUT I've heard such good things about megs 16, I have 16 on one of my cars now and love it BUT I don't want to have my winter protection fail on me 1/2 way through winter. I'm also thinking about getting a new product for a winter protection.

What would be a better choice?

What do you use for a winter wax/ sealant?

for the winter here in Pa ( last year was real crappy btw ) I have been using use Prime , AJT , Zaino , 476 and 845. #16 held up a few months for me but not sure if it would make it through our winter season. going to use UPGP this winter as it has been a champ on my new honda, 5 months going strong with one coat in a very rainy summer for us. the water sheeting on UPGP and less stuff sticking to it makes it an easy decision for me.

Wax- collinite 476

Sealant- duragloss 105

W/s hybrid- fk1000

From all I have read, these are three of the most durable protectants available, though Rydawg has experienced even better durability from Collinite 915 than 476s. You can't go wrong with the Collinites.

Isn't FK 1000p a pure synthetic protectant?

This winter I am going with Blackfire Wet Diamond on my Stewie and UPGP on my wife's CRV. We shall see ...

Well if your interested in buying a new LSP, you definitely can't go wrong with Collinite. I'm using 915 this winter, layered over Tropicare Sunburst Sealant xp

Go with the #16.

INcorrect.

Heh heh, sorry...I just couldn't resist :chuckle: :o

I do use #16 on my wife's car year-round, but it doesn't hold up anything like 476S did when I used that on it for the winter (same car, same conditions, same everything). There are a few products that outlast #16 for me, but hey, it's still a great choice anyhow.

correct me if im wrong, but ive been told and have read that 3m performance finish is a pretty durable product. thats what im going to work with for winter preps.

My winter wax consists of NXT (applied 2x to ensure proper coverage, and also ease of use) followed by 1 application of #16. If given enough time, I usually hit JUST the horizontals with a second application of #16.

This will last me months of northern California rainstorms, which have been close to non-existent the past 3 years.

I car down... a few more to go, unfortunately.

Dont compromise on looks or durability; Wolfgang Sealant 3.0 has to be your choice!

I have to agree. I just detailed my Acura 3.0CL over the weekend for the winter. I applied two coats of WDGPS 3.0 as my LSP, i didn't top it with fusion, with two coats of sealant i'm fully prepared for the mild winters we have here in Houston ( we have mostly rain during the winter months). I am very happy with WGDPS 3.0, it's the best sealant i've used for everything i ever wanted in a sealant, the looks after a proper prep are breathtaking ( the others i've used are SCG Nano seal which us good, and Poorboys EX sealant). :bigups

I have had success with Collinite (476/885 and 845) and FK 1000P getting through the Northeastern winter, from October through April, in good condition, with occasional washes. The OP's profile says he is in Louisiana, so he doesn't deal with the salt/winter sludge we do in the north.
