winter tires: a rant and opinion request

Aftonbladet is a newspaper, not a car magazine.

I'm surprised that Blizzaks came out first, considering what they wrote about them. They said that they are great on deep snow. Not as good on bare pavement. Too bad at sideways grip, stopping distance is too long, and something I couldn't quite figure out. "Vingligt på räfflad is". I think that means slippy on smooth ice. My Swedish is rusty and the only two words I know for sure in that phrase are "on" and "ice".

I think I can help you out with that one: "Vingligt på räfflad is" means roughly "unstable on rough/grooved ice".

The car become "nervous" and you need to work alot with the steering wheel when driving on ice that has been grooved by the blade of a snow plow for example.

Regarding tyre sizes, I have just picked up a set of Nokian Hakkapelitta 2s in 215/55/16, now I am just waiting for my new MB CLK320 to be delivered next week so I can have something to put the new tyres on:D

Did I get the rest of the Swedish right? As I mentioned, my Swedish is pretty rusty. I think the English word for "vingligt" might be "scored".

oops, that's räfflad that can be translated as scored.

Does anyone know of a Swedish to english translator on the web?

I posted the foriegn language sites purley for informational purposes and the article used a star rating system, which I used when perused them.
