Winter+QEW+foam gun = new "wifehatescar method" ?

My L5-S1 is killing me!
So here I am with my nice new foam gun and it's 30* outside! I like QEW but I always hated using it on a dry and dirty/salty car. So I decided to do the following:
-2 caps of QEW in the foam gun with the rest water
-Pulled the car outside and sprayed it very thouroughly (did a quick wheel/tire scrub at the same time), took about 5 minutes
-Pulled the car inside still wet with the QEW mix
-Did my normal 2 bucket QEW

This accomplished a couple things:
-The tires and wheels were cleaned outside the garage minimizing water in the garage
-The car is wet with QEW (pre soaked) before you even start mitt washing it
-Most heavy dirt is washed off with the QEW/foam gun spraydown

Anyway, seemed to work well for me. :yes: Course I have heated soft water and a heated garage but you could do this process without all that as well.
 
I knew there was something more that I could order for twenty per cent off at auto geek. Will have to try that. Of course I do not have a heated garage. But I do have near 60 degree weather with nothing but sunshine. :yes:
 
Did QEW foam for you via the gun? I've noticed QEW has very little sudzing when I've used it.
 
Sounds to me that if you're going to use the foam gun, it's best to just use "regular" car wash with it ( maybe even one off the "disgraced product" shelf since it's just a pre soak) and then the QEW indoors. It could conserve some more QEW for the winter months.

thats definately a better idea. qew would simply wash and rinse away any remainng soap fluid.

i dont live in a snow prone area but here in miami when the car is dirty and its too hot to wash outside (assuming i didnt wake up early that morning to wash it a dawn), i add a mix of the qew to those 3 gallon pump sprayers grandmas use for gardens and such. gives me a good presoak and softens the dirt prior to the NORMAL qew.

or u could just use spray and wipe. the possibilities are endless.

Two reasons I thought this would be bad...
1. If it's below freezing the spray solution will freeze on the car, not letting me rinse off the suds.
2. If I get suds all over the car, I was worried I'd have to go over each panel a bunch of times with the mitt to get the suds off. It would almost be like doing a QEW method only with regular car wash gel, and I haven't seen anyone try that. I might give it a try though just to see what happens. I bought a gallon of QEW so it's no more money than regular car wash gel.

QEW did not foam. The gun was just used to disperse the QEW on the paint as I rinsed the car off.
