Windshield sealant advice please

Retired Geezer
OK, taking a 2000 mile long trip soon, and want to put something on my windshield that will make the rain fly off at 75 mph. I have polished the windshield with a orbital, meg's 205 using a glass pad.. I do not want to buy a new product, my shelf is overflowing with stuff now. So of these products, which do you think would be the most hydrophobic/least smear for the trip? I tried the Sonax and Car Pro so far...

Blackfire wet diamond
blackfire crystal seal
Dodo tropical Red
Sonax netshield (tried this today, not real impressed)
Car Pro reload (seems pretty good)
Adam's Machine Sealant
Wolfgang Spray Spritz
Duragloss Aquawax

thanks for the help guys....

Hi, Glen -

Hope you and yours have a great and safe trip !
Looking over your list, I think that probably Blackfire Crystal Seal should help since they say that it can be applied to glass... It will also be the easiest one to do..

Car Pro Reload can also be applied to glass, but I hear that you have to wash all the towels right away or it will harden in them and then they are useless...

Hard to say which one has the most legs though..

Good luck with this..

Thanks dan, the reload also advertises glass, maybe ill try the windshield split with both of those.....

I am in agreement. Crystal Seal or Reload.

Both work well. I apply Reload to the glass as well as the wiper blades themselves. It helps to reduce / minimize any wiper chatter from the blades if there is any. It also makes the blades slick and almost glide instead of drag and push.

I have used quite a bit of Reload and never had an issues with it makes towels hard.

I never have either....

This is great news that it doesnt make the towels hard.. I took that information off the carpro reload product description at this store.
It was in the customer comments...

Sorry if I was mistaken..

that being said, I don't let any of my towels sit after using them...I wash right away - but I've done that on all my detailing life - when done, things go in the wash, maybe they do if they sit overnight...I know my small suede pieces of MF when I use cquartz are rock hard and worthless in 2 hours...LOL

Dan, No reason to be sorry. That is good info if people have had this issue.

I have not yet used the newest updated version I have the early 2014 revised bottle still to finish. Wish there was a trade in plan for this stuff... I can't keep up.

I never had it happen with reload either. My MF's always feel soft afterwards. However with CquartzUK the mirco suede applicator will harden but I know he wasn't talking about that since he was putting over Opti Coat. I might try some on a wheel with a cheap towel and see if anything happens over a day or 2 since I always wash mine same day.

I Use a prodcut from Glass Science called Rain Clear. I've actually never tried the high dollar glass sealants, but Rain Clear works really well, the windshiled looks great, and it last several months. I keep my truck outside all the time and Rain Clear is still making the water fly off the windshield after almost 2 months. I usually starts coming off about 40 MPH or so. At 75 you don't even need wipers. It's mosr a gel type product. You need to shake it up well beofre using. Application is simple. The price is not bad either. I use it on most all my details.
