Been awhile since I posted a C&B, busy, you know how that goes. I am working on the pics now so more in a bit, but I thought I'd post this for you to chew on.

Pretty, no?

Ya, so it isn't a Ferrari, but it's fun to work on cars that need a lot of love every once in awhile. This is a 12 year old Camry with ~160k km on it. Never waxed, polished...you know the drill. Anyway, I was ready for anything and that's what I got. I decided turned on my halogens and was, I admit, even a little shocked at just how rough it was. And this was the best couple panels.....

Details:

A lot of sanding

ec/op on a wool pad via rotary @1500rpm

hc white pad @1400 rpm

106ff via PC/white pad.

Duragloss 105

As you can see below I decided after heavy compounding that some scratches just weren't coming out. So I got out the sanding block.

At this point the sky decided it didn't like me, and we got a really awesome thunderstorm. I wish my camera had sound. My sad car in the rain... I decided to do the rear since it was in danger of getting wet. The trunk was in bad shape... it was crying out for help. I helped it with sand paper and hi-temp love.

Well I figured nothing could be worse than the trunk so why not go to the hood... I was wrong. I don't know what happened here, gang war? Pottery fight? Cats covered in glass?

And so on, and so forth for 9 hours. I did the interior too, but didn't take pics because I suck.

Maybe I gave it another 12 years. One can hope!

Cheers guys.

 I think that is the most impressive makeover I have seen posted here. Just unreal improvement!

I can't believe someone with a car is such bad condition would pop for 9 hours of labor though...is this a new owner or something?

wow!!!!

really excellent turnaround!... I always look forward to any of your click and brags.

this is simply stunning....really...

erm, do you tape up the windscreen with newspapers?...any photos of the car taped?

thanks!

thats amazing, nice work, im sure ur tired as hell. what grade sandpaper did u use?

2000 and 3000. I used 3k around the door handles, and 2000 on the rear deck and hood.

I know, crazy huh? He was referred to me by a friend with a mini that I detailed. I am not sure why he chose now to have the car cleaned up but he says he intends on keeping it at least 5 more years. Original owner. Kind of an anomalous customer that's for sure.

I didn't tape this car. There were no real moldings to be concerned with.

Thanks guys. :)

You have made a silk purse out of a sow's ear!!! That car is easily worth $1000 more than it was prior to your arrival. Your skills with the rotary are beyond compare.

Oh My Goodness ... this is not real ... the transformation is unbelievable :bow

Just wondering is the paint single stage or clear coat ?
