Why must "Green" cars be so ugly?

I do like the dark green. I still recall a car my dad had and it was Forest Green. It was a nice dark green. I have seen several Ford greens recently that tended to have blue in it so it was a tweener color.
 
I've asked my wife the same question many times. There's absolutely no reason they can't have nice body styling. In fact, it would help with their aerodynamics and make them even more eco-friendly!!!

GM is trying to start a new trend with the Chevy Volt Electric Vehicle: (It's not drop-dead gorgeous, but it's a nice looking car.)

I think part of it is these cars are being designed to stand out from the norm. If they looked like everything else, no one would notice them. The Prius is a great example of this; it may not be sexy but hybrid car buyers don't want sexy, they do want unique.

I'd have to look at the aero numbers but I'll bet hybrids are as aero as they can possibly be. In their size and class, I'm sure no other car can beat their aero numbers. Aero efficiency is one way to gain easy mileage so you can bet these cars spent a crazy amount of time in a wind tunnel.

I think the "egg" shape is the most aerodynamic profile possible, isn't it? No wonder some hybrids look alike.

Personally, I love green (colored) cars. Some, like the MCS as an example, I'd only buy in BRG. Or, a GT3RS. Woof! OTOH, my sense of environmental consciousness stops with having high-flow cats on my cars. I don't mind giving up a few horsepower for a cleaner exhaust, but I can't ever see myself buying a car, because it's "green."

that's why I want one! I'm thinking of also getting a sport SUV (BMW X5 most likely), with a V8 petrol, that's why I want my daily driver to be efficient. Also it will take me one tank of diesel to drive to LA, since it gets 600+ miles per tank.
