Why does this cost so much?

This might be a oportunity to make money. You figure if you buy this and refill it all the time, and sell the wax on ebay for $50-$100 each you would make money off of it. It might be a good investment. It would probably take too long for the refills to come though.

I believe that there are monthly or yearly limits on the refils.

Also, I believe I read in a really old post that Scottwax tried this or someone else did and it wasnt anything better than s100 or Souveran.

Just like buying an interconnect for $15000. (1/2 meter I think)

Their $50 or so carbon wax on dark metallic paint eats P21s for breakfast though. We may soon try their $168.00 wax.

It does? I might try it then. Darn, and I was getting to like p21s too. I was thinking of trying a lower priced Zymol, but I wanted to see how well p21s works. Oh well....

Edit: The higher in price you go with Zymol, the more intoxicating their waxes become...beware!

When they say it comes with free refills, I assume they mean that you're limited to a certain # per year, whatever they consider reasonable. When you get a "lifetime supply" of Big Macs from winning a contest, for example, that doesn't mean you can walk into McD's and demand 20 free BMs. You might be restricted to two sandwiches per day, for example. In this case, they probably give you just enough of this wax to coat your car once every two weeks.

It costs that much because middle-aged white guys in Armani suits and Phd.'s gather all the ingredients and personally mix and formulate the wax. Kidding.

Really though, they limit the availability and people with money want it just for the exclusivity of it all. Just like most of the really high-end things you can buy.

I got some oceanfront property for sale in Arizona, as well as a bridge in Brooklyn.

Ain't cheap, though.

This subject is quite interesting because in 1989 I saw an ad for this great wax called Zymol. I ordered it because it was probably the only wax/polish that was on the market that I had not purchased. The first time I used it, on a dark blue car, I experienced cloudiness when I was finished. I called the number included with the instructions and reached the owner. We had a very nice conversation and during the course of the conversation he informed me that he was justing starting into business and was making the wax in his garage.

Talk about coming a long way; from making the product in your garage to selling wax that is worth a king's ransom. Gotta love the USA.

Hmm. Whadda'ya know ? For some reason I thought this was a German product.

(I could picture Herr Zymol sending indentured fairies and trolls into the Black Forest to collect gooseberries and snipe droppings to make over-priced wax for the intellectually-challenged , but fabulously-well-to-do, idiot savant buggy owners of Europe).

...'ya learn somethin' every day.

No, Zymol is made in Connecticut. And Haagan Daz is made in New Jersey. :chuckle: :rofl
